About The Position

VML is seeking a Freelancer Senior UI Designer to lead visual design direction and execution across digital programs and platforms. The ideal candidate brings strong UI craft, CRM experience, healthcare/pharmaceutical client experience, and T-shaped design talent with expertise across both UX and UI. This freelance role combines hands-on design leadership, design-system thinking, modular asset creation, and the strategic use of AI to improve design quality, consistency, and efficiency.

Requirements

Senior-level experience in UI/product/digital design, preferably in an advertising agency or marketing environment.
Proven CRM experience.
Experience creating and managing modular design and asset libraries.
Demonstrated experience working with healthcare and/or pharmaceutical clients.
Strong portfolio showcasing exceptional UI, visual design, and design-system work.
T-shaped skill set: deep expertise in UI with strong working knowledge of UX, interaction design, and user-centered design principles.
Experience defining visual direction and maintaining design consistency across multiple platforms.
Strong understanding of responsive design, accessibility, and modern digital design patterns.
Experience using AI tools to enhance design exploration, iteration, and production.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and presentation skills.
Ability to work independently as a freelancer while managing priorities, timelines, and deliverables.
Ideally 3-6+ years of UI Design working with campaign management, project and product launch teams as well as demonstrated experience in advertising or marketing communications; a minimum of 3+ years of hands-on experience in an Ad Agency is required
Self-driven with proven experience working with multi-disciplinary teams (CX, CRM, Strategy, Data, Creative, Project Management) across North American offices
Good understanding of emerging standards, user-centered design, the consumer journey, optimization and search practices
High EQ and the ability to read what a team needs to help motivate them

Responsibilities

Define, evolve, and scale design systems across products and platforms.
Establish visual direction and ensure consistency across digital experiences.
Design intuitive, polished interfaces for CRM and other digital platforms.
Build and maintain modular asset libraries that support scalable, efficient production.
Translate brand and business requirements into compelling UI experiences.
Partner with UX, strategy, technology, and cross-functional teams to deliver cohesive experiences.
Apply T-shaped design skills, contributing across both UX and UI when needed.
Integrate AI tools and workflows to accelerate exploration, production, and quality.
Represent and advocate for strong visual craft across teams and client engagements.
Apply experience working with healthcare and pharmaceutical clients, including the ability to navigate regulated environments and complex stakeholder needs.
