About The Position

The Senior Transmission Line Engineer 2 applies and expands transmission line engineering knowledge across conductors, hardware, insulation, structures, foundations, and electrical principles. The role involves designing 69kV to 500kV transmission lines and supporting cost analyses, design criteria, routing and siting, conductor selection, shielding, grounding, and induction studies. The engineer works with vendors, clients, and project teams to specify components, develop proposals and cost estimates, and contribute to transmission assignments while observing schedules and budget constraints. Occasional travel for site visits and client meetings may be required. The role has a hybrid arrangement, with an expectation of three days per week in the office and the option to work remotely two days per week. A relocation package may be available depending on location.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program.
• At least 7 years of experience as a project team member on diverse transmission assignments.
• Proficiency with PLS-CADD to review transmission line models.
• Experience with transmission line design incorporating code requirements, cost estimate development, schedule creation and coordination, preparation of procurement and construction specifications for transmission line materials, and liaison with construction and installation.
• Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles used to produce technical plans, drawings, and models.
• Familiarity with design codes and standards such as NESC, IEC, CSA, IEEE, ANSI, IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI 318.
• Proficiency with MS Office applications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Attention to detail.

Nice To Haves

• Current PE license or ability to acquire one within one year.
• Experience developing engineering proposals and cost estimates.
• Scheduling experience.
• Proficiency with one or more of PLS-TOWER, SAG10, LPILE, MFAD, ArcGIS, CDEGS, AutoCAD, and MicroStation.
• Interest in learning and effectively using relevant emerging technologies.
• Experience with AI, automation, programming, or similar technologies, where relevant.

Responsibilities

• Design transmission lines in the 69kV to 500kV range.
• Perform cost analyses and develop design criteria for transmission lines.
• Support transmission line routing and siting.
• Conduct conductor selection, shielding, grounding, and induction studies.
• Work with vendors and clients to specify transmission line components.
• Interact with clients and other project teams.
• Develop proposals and cost estimates for new work.

• Review right-of-way requirements, conductor sags and tensions, transmission line plan and profile drawings, and construction documents.
• Prepare engineering calculations and supporting documentation.
