About The Position

Transforming Age is seeking a Senior Third Party Billing Specialist to join their team. This remote role is crucial for the organization's financial success, focusing on full-cycle billing and collection procedures for skilled nursing facilities. The specialist will also be responsible for generating accurate reports to support billing and payment processes. The role requires a strong understanding of the healthcare industry, particularly Medi-Cal billing, and involves collaboration with facility staff and management to ensure accuracy and efficiency in financial operations.

Requirements

  • Associates degree in a related field, or equivalent combination of education/experience.
  • Strong knowledge of the healthcare industry required.
  • Must have Medi-Cal (California specific) billing experience.
  • Ability to occasionally travel to our sites in Saratoga and Napa, CA on occasion.
  • Current valid driver's license required (for occasional travel to communities in Saratoga/Napa).
  • Must have Medicare, HMO, and other insurance billing experience.
  • At least 10 years of experience working with Medicaid, Medicare, Insurance claims or in a claims processing environment.
  • Demonstrated effective written and oral communication and presentation skills and the ability to communicate complex financial information to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and critically think through processes and issues.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Excel and billing software.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the full cycle of Accounts Receivable, including private and governmental contracts (Federal, State, and local) for skilled nursing facilities.
  • Manage all 3rd party payors including Medicare, HMOs, coinsurance, private pay, etc.
  • Ensure all billing is completed/submitted accurately, timely, and in accordance with set policies and procedures.
  • Assist with private pay billing at other levels of care as needed.
  • Ensure all ancillary charges are entered and accurate on bills before submission.
  • Participate in Accounts Receivable aging reviews with facility staff and Accounts Receivable Manager.
  • Assist facilities in collection procedures on private and insurance balances.
  • Assist in analysis on legacy clients to identify collectability of accounts receivable.
  • Proceed with collection procedures in collaboration with Accounts Receivable Manager and facility team.
  • Reconcile Accounts Receivable with general ledger and post all cash receipts received to appropriate accounts.
  • Coordinate with Accounts Receivable Manager and facility staff/management to ensure accuracy of records for conversion to billing numbers.
  • Perform reconciliation of billing and collections, identify unbilled or rejected services, and rebill accurately.
  • Assist facilities with various government audits including Medicare RAC audits and appeals.
