About The Position

Under general supervision, troubleshoots the more complex problems encountered by county users; performs the more complex maintenance and repairs and replacement of computer components, software, and other special computer products; and performs related work as required. This is an Open Competitive/Countywide Promotional recruitment being conducted to fill a current full-time vacancy in the Technology Services Department but is assigned to the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office. The list established from this recruitment may be used to fill future vacancies as they occur.

Requirements

  • Two years of full-time experience in a technology support position AND a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in information technology or a closely related field; OR an equivalent combination of related education and experience.
  • A valid driver’s license is required at the time of application and must be maintained for continued employment in this classification.

Nice To Haves

  • Extensive experience supporting enterprise Service Desk operations in a complex organization.
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills with a proven track record of resolving difficult technical issues independently.
  • Strong PowerShell scripting and automation skills that reduce manual effort and improve operational efficiency.
  • Experience working in a mission-critical public safety environment, preferably supporting dispatch operations, law enforcement, or emergency communications.
  • Familiarity with ProQA, Octave, Carbyne, RapidSOS, Computer Aided Dispatch, or other public safety technologies.
  • Experience administering or working extensively with ITSM platforms such as HaloITSM, ServiceNow, or similar systems, with an understanding of ITIL best practices.
  • A continuous improvement mindset.
  • CompTIA A+, Microsoft 365 Certified: Endpoint Administrator Associate, VMware Certified Professional (VCP), and/or ITIL Foundation certifications are a plus.
