About The Position

As Senior Technical Program Manager for Manufacturing at Oura, you will serve as the primary bridge between Product Development (PD) and Global Manufacturing Operations, acting as the single point of contact for manufacturing process development and deployment within PD programs. You will ensure custom automation, tooling, and test equipment are designed, validated, and deployed in time to meet product launch milestones. The role coordinates manufacturing engineering, Operations Program Managers, Engineering Program Managers, vendors, and contract manufacturers. It oversees equipment development from requirements and vendor selection through acceptance testing and global deployment, while managing technical risks, design changes, schedules, budgets, and manufacturing readiness. The position is hybrid, based in Oura’s San Francisco office, with three days per week in the office and travel of up to 25% of the time. In the first six months, success includes representing Manufacturing in at least one active NPI program, building an integrated equipment and process schedule aligned with the master product schedule, establishing KPI reporting, serving as an escalation point for equipment vendors and contract manufacturers, resolving a major technical risk ahead of a build milestone, and putting a design-change process affecting manufacturing into use.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical engineering principles and the New Product Introduction (NPI) process.
  • Ability to translate complex technical constraints into actionable project plans for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to report on an overall program and divide it into understandable sub-entities and KPIs.
  • Experience managing global equipment vendors and Contract Manufacturers (CMs).
  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 25% of the time.

Nice To Haves

  • Consumer electronics manufacturing experience.
  • Experience with wearable, miniaturized, or high-precision consumer electronics manufacturing.
  • Experience managing programs for custom automation, fixtures, and test equipment from concept through FAT/SAT and production ramp.
  • Familiarity with MES systems, production data dashboards, or smart manufacturing tools.
  • PMP, PgMP, or equivalent program management certification.

Responsibilities

  • Represent Manufacturing Engineering as the lead manufacturing contact in Product Development program forums.
  • Coordinate with Operations Program Managers and Engineering Program Managers to align equipment schedules with the master product schedule and drive cross-functional issues to closure.
  • Collaborate on the Plan of Record and ensure qualification plans, checklists, and specifications support production release.
  • Manage manufacturing equipment development from requirements gathering and vendor selection through Final Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT).
  • Identify manufacturing-process technical bottlenecks early and manage dependencies between hardware design changes and equipment capability.
  • Assess changes affecting manufacturing areas and plan their impact and deployment.
  • Oversee installation and bring-up of manufacturing lines at global sites, ensuring equipment meets yield, cycle-time, and reliability targets.
  • Manage CAPEX and OPEX budgets for manufacturing development and allocate resources to priority program workstreams.
  • Establish and report KPIs covering schedule, FAT/SAT status, yield and cycle-time readiness, and CAPEX spend.
