Senior Technical Program Manager

Motive
•$127,000 - $175,000

About The Position

Motive is seeking a Senior Security Technical Program Manager to drive execution of the Security & Privacy Roadmap and other high-priority security risk-reduction programs. The role turns complex security and privacy goals into sequenced, measurable plans; aligns Security, Product, Engineering, Privacy, Legal, and business partners; and makes risks, dependencies, resourcing needs, and decisions visible to executives. The program manager plays a central role in quarterly security planning and preparing clear, evidence-based, board-ready updates. Success is measured by durable risk reduction and shipped outcomes rather than activity alone. The role owns integrated roadmap execution from intake and prioritization through delivery and operational handoff, leads cross-functional security programs, coordinates quarterly planning, and establishes effective program reviews and reporting. It also develops executive and board materials, builds partnerships across technical and nontechnical teams, and improves the security program operating model so teams can execute predictably and demonstrate control effectiveness.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience leading complex technical programs, with meaningful experience in cybersecurity, product security, privacy, or a closely related risk-management domain.
  • Track record of delivering multi-team programs across engineering and business functions, including work with senior leaders and teams that do not report to you.
  • Strong program-management fundamentals, including integrated plans, dependency and critical-path management, risk and issue resolution, capacity planning, change control, and outcome-based reporting.
  • Ability to understand security architecture and control objectives well enough to ask precise questions, identify delivery and risk gaps, and translate technical details into business impact without being the hands-on implementer.
  • Excellent executive writing and presentation skills, including experience producing concise leadership updates or board-level materials grounded in verified evidence.
  • Demonstrated AI-first mindset in executing programs rather than manually chasing teams to get things done.
  • Sound judgment in prioritizing risk, surfacing trade-offs, and balancing urgency, customer impact, compliance needs, and delivery capacity.
  • Collaborative, low-ego approach and ability to create accountability through influence, structure, and clear communication.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a SaaS or technology company with complex products, customer data, and cross-functional security ownership.
  • Familiarity with security and privacy programs such as IAM and authorization, vulnerability management, data lifecycle controls, incident remediation, audit readiness, or privacy engineering.
  • Experience defining program metrics, risk indicators, control evidence, and executive dashboards.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the integrated Security & Privacy Roadmap from intake and prioritization through delivery and operational handoff, clarifying scope, owners, milestones, dependencies, decision points, and success measures.
  • Lead cross-functional execution of major security programs, potentially including identity and access management, authorization, vulnerability remediation, auditability, data protection and retention, privacy controls, and security assurance.
  • Coordinate quarterly planning inputs, capacity and sequencing discussions, prioritization trade-offs, and commitments; surface gaps early and present options and recommendations to decision-makers.
  • Run program reviews and maintain concise plans, RAID logs, decision records, and dashboards; track leading indicators and milestones and escalate blockers with their impact, owner, and recommended next step.
  • Develop accurate, board-ready narratives and presentations explaining risks, progress, measurable outcomes, material changes, and required decisions or investments; validate claims and metrics with accountable teams.
  • Align technical and nontechnical stakeholders, facilitate decisions when priorities conflict, and communicate clearly with engineers and senior executives.
  • Identify recurring delivery, governance, or measurement gaps and improve the security program operating model.
