Senior Technical Product Marketing Manager

LanceDB
•$160,000 - $205,000

About The Position

LanceDB is seeking a Senior Technical Product Marketing Manager to own the technical content, demos, and competitive work supporting its go-to-market efforts. The role focuses on creating credible technical proof for AI researchers and platform engineers, equipping Sales with that material, and distributing it effectively. The position complements a product marketing counterpart who owns positioning, messaging, and the core pitch; this role owns the underlying technical layer, including demos, benchmarks, deep-dive content, and competitive work. The manager will develop content directly and coordinate with internal and external subject matter experts when appropriate. They will identify gaps in available proof and ensure the needed material is produced. The role requires technical depth and close collaboration with Product Marketing, Developer Relations, Engineering, Sales, and broader Marketing in a small, fast-moving team whose scope and go-to-market motion continue to evolve.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience marketing infrastructure or developer products to technical practitioners in product marketing, technical marketing, developer relations, solutions architecture, or an adjacent technical go-to-market role.
  • Ability to write Python, work comfortably in notebooks, and independently build a working demo on an unfamiliar system; candidates will be asked to demonstrate something they built.
  • Comfort on camera and ability to lead a recurring video series with minimal support.
  • Depth in AI/ML infrastructure, data infrastructure, databases, or developer tools, with enough context to understand training pipelines, embedding workflows, or petabyte-scale data curation.
  • Demonstrated competitive marketing experience for a technical product, including developing competitive intelligence and turning it into enablement.
  • Strong writing ability and capacity to explain technical topics in depth without padding.
  • Ability to own work end to end without a supporting team, apply sound judgment and pattern recognition, and move quickly and confidently.
  • Strong analytical instincts, including using data to draw conclusions and adjust work.
  • Thoughtful use of AI as a marketer and willingness to iterate on ways it can improve and streamline work.
  • Excellent communication and ability to partner with founders, engineers, and go-to-market leadership in a fast-moving, high-ownership team.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced startup environment and enjoys working with high-caliber teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Background as an engineer, researcher, solutions architect, or developer advocate before moving into marketing.

Responsibilities

  • Own LanceDB’s technical proof surface, including benchmarks, reference architectures, technical deep dives, and comparisons; decide what proof is needed, produce some directly, and coordinate with subject matter experts on other work.
  • Build hands-on working demos on LanceDB and deliver them as content, conference material, and sales assets.
  • Write, host, and publish a biweekly product update video featuring on-camera walkthroughs of shipped work and its value, including live demos when useful.
  • Partner with Engineering to frame questions for benchmarks and other technical proof, advocate for rigor, and translate results for the market.
  • Develop customer- and partner-based proof points, including reference architectures based on real deployments, joint technical content, and material demonstrating how teams use LanceDB.
  • Own competitive intelligence, maintain the competitive picture, conduct teardowns, and turn findings into battlecards, technical objection handling, and win themes.
  • Build the technical portion of sales enablement, including demo scripts, discovery questions, competitive training, and supporting proof points.
  • Use input from customers, prospects, user research, the open-source community, GitHub, Discord, and recurring sales-call questions to inform work.
  • Partner with Marketing on launches, campaigns, and events, providing technical depth for a skeptical audience.
