About The Position

Alation is seeking a Senior Technical Product Marketing Manager to own the technical story for its core platform and AI Agent capabilities built on AIOS and the Context Layer. The role translates technical product detail and field insights into self-serve demos, competitive intelligence, positioning, and content that resonates with technical buyers as well as executives. The position involves hands-on work with the product and collaboration with Product Marketing leadership, Product, Analyst Relations, sales, solutions engineers, and Forward Deployed Engineers. This is a hybrid role, with work in Alation’s Redwood City office on Tuesdays and Thursdays each week.

Requirements

  • 8–12 years of experience in technical product marketing, solutions engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Experience building and running technical demos for sales, industry analyst, or field audiences.
  • Exposure to competitive intelligence or competitive analysis for enterprise software.
  • Comfort partnering with engineering, solutions engineering, or forward-deployed technical teams.
  • Strong technical communication skills and the ability to translate technical detail for broader audiences.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with AI agent architectures, data governance, or data intelligence platforms.
  • Understanding of the difference between metadata management and active metadata management, and between technical lineage and business lineage.

Responsibilities

  • Own and maintain Alation’s competitive source of truth by tracking and analyzing competitor products and distributing relevant content through appropriate channels.
  • Join discovery calls, proof-of-concepts, and Forward Deployed Engineer engagements to identify customer patterns, stories, and sources of value.
  • Build AI-assisted workflows to turn field signals into content efficiently while retaining human review where accuracy and judgment matter.
  • Use competitor products hands-on to create technically defensible comparisons and validate competitive claims before they reach the field.
  • Partner with Product Marketing leadership to refine positioning and messaging using technical competitive insights.
  • Support competitive briefings for sales and Product Marketing.
  • Build self-serve demo environments and scripts that sales, solutions engineers, and partners can run independently.
  • Create demos that present both an executive-level business story and a technical deep dive for architects and engineers.
  • Develop documentation and training materials that help field teams run demos confidently.
  • Adapt demos to real customer scenarios, retire ineffective demos, and ensure demo videos are captured and accessible in learning channels.
  • Partner with Analyst Relations to develop demos and RFI responses that accurately map Alation capabilities to analyst terminology, evaluation criteria, and use cases, in alignment with product availability.
  • Partner with Forward Deployed Engineers on technical demo content and competitive materials, and incorporate field engagement learnings into product marketing materials.
  • Create reference architectures, tutorials, blog posts, whitepapers, webinars, and demo videos for technical and executive audiences.
  • Represent Alation as a technical voice at industry events, customer forums, webinars, and analyst briefings.
  • Turn core technical content into sales enablement materials, including battle cards, technical playbooks, and training.
