About The Position

Starbucks is seeking a Senior Technical Product Manager to help build the next generation of its integrated planning capabilities. The role brings together supply chain planning, data, analytics, optimization, and enterprise technology into a cohesive product ecosystem. It requires deep planning-domain expertise and technical fluency to partner with engineering teams building in-house capabilities and to integrate with commercial and enterprise platforms where appropriate. The Technical Product Manager identifies business problems and opportunities, defines success metrics, and translates needs into clear epics and user stories so engineering teams can design, build, release, and monitor solutions. The position works collaboratively to create simple, engaging experiences and aligns business and technical objectives through clear priorities and product health metrics. The manager defines buildable work, including acceptance criteria and non-functional requirements, and drives iterative Agile delivery in partnership with design and engineering. The role also facilitates user review and acceptance and measures feature success after launch to improve product health.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, supply chain, operations research, business, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7+ years of experience delivering complex enterprise technology products, including products supporting business-critical planning and operational processes.
  • 5+ years of experience in supply chain planning, with demonstrated knowledge of demand planning, supply planning, inventory planning, replenishment, capacity planning, and/or integrated business planning.
  • Experience building or leading enterprise planning products and translating complex planning processes and business requirements into scalable product capabilities.
  • 5+ years of experience using analytics, optimization, forecasting, scenario modeling, or decision-support capabilities to inform product strategy, prioritization, and planning decisions.
  • 5+ years of experience partnering cross-functionally with Supply Chain, Operations, Finance, Data, Engineering, Architecture, and other business and technology teams.
  • 5+ years of hands-on product management experience, including defining product vision, multi-year roadmaps, capabilities, epics, user stories, acceptance criteria, and prioritized backlogs.
  • Demonstrated experience partnering with engineering and design teams to take complex capabilities from discovery and design through development, testing, deployment, adoption, and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to define planning workflows that connect demand signals, forecasts, inventory, supply constraints, business rules, and operational decisions within an integrated planning ecosystem.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to understand complex business processes, identify opportunities for automation and optimization, and convert them into clear product requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • 7+ years of experience delivering technically complex enterprise products involving multiple engineering teams, shared services, upstream and downstream dependencies, and cross-team roadmaps.
  • Experience building an in-house or highly customized supply chain planning platform rather than relying exclusively on packaged planning applications.
  • Deep understanding of end-to-end planning concepts, including forecasting, demand sensing, supply and demand balancing, inventory optimization, replenishment, allocation, constraints, exception management, scenario planning, and what-if analysis.
  • Experience designing, configuring, extending, or integrating commercial planning platforms such as o9, SAP, Oracle, or Anaplan, and understanding when to build internally versus use packaged solutions.
  • Experience integrating planning solutions with enterprise systems such as ERP, order management, inventory, procurement, warehouse, transportation, point-of-sale, and financial systems.
  • Strong working knowledge of APIs, event-driven integrations, batch interfaces, ETL/ELT pipelines, master data, and other integration patterns connecting planning and operational systems.
  • Experience partnering with data engineering and architecture teams to define data models, source-system requirements, data contracts, transformation rules, data quality expectations, lineage, and data flows for planning applications.
  • Experience with data mapping, master and reference data, data governance, reconciliation, interface validation, and end-to-end integration testing.
  • Understanding of planning data foundations, including product/item, location, supplier, inventory, orders, historical demand, forecasts, lead times, calendars, and planning parameters.
  • Experience defining and delivering planning algorithms, optimization capabilities, forecasting solutions, rules engines, or decision-support services with engineering, data science, and operations research teams.
  • Ability to define measurable product outcomes using planning and operational KPIs, such as forecast accuracy and bias, service level, inventory availability, inventory productivity, waste, planning efficiency, and exception resolution.
  • Experience designing intuitive web-based planner experiences, including workbenches, dashboards, exception-driven workflows, scenario comparisons, approvals, and decision-support experiences.
  • Technical fluency to work effectively with software engineers and architects, including understanding system architecture, APIs, data models, integration designs, and technical tradeoffs. Prior software development experience is a plus.
  • Strong ability to influence without direct authority and align business and technology stakeholders around a shared product vision, architecture, roadmap, and investment sequence.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to simplify complex planning and technology concepts for senior leaders, business partners, engineers, and end users.
  • Hands-on experience with Agile product development, including iterative discovery and delivery, backlog refinement, sprint planning, dependency management, release planning, and product adoption.

Responsibilities

  • Define product value and direction by aligning business and technical objectives, setting priorities, and establishing product health and performance metrics and KPIs.
  • Translate business and user needs into well-formed epics and user stories, acceptance criteria, and non-functional requirements covering performance, scalability, resilience, usability, accessibility, security, and continuity.
  • Clarify tradeoffs, dependencies, and constraints for product work.
  • Drive delivery and outcomes through iterative Agile practices, partnering with design and engineering on sizing and planning.
  • Remove blockers and facilitate user review and acceptance.
  • Measure feature success after launch and use results to improve product health.
