About The Position

Fivetran is seeking an experienced Senior Technical Instructor to help enterprise customers, partners, and global systems integrators succeed with dbt. The instructor will deliver engaging training that empowers data developers to create and share organizational knowledge. Instruction will initially take place remotely over Zoom, with in-person delivery likely in the future. The role also contributes to curriculum development and improvements to education workflows.

Requirements

• At least 4 years of teaching experience with some data analytics experience, or at least 4 years of data analytics experience with some teaching experience.
• Experience writing SQL in an analytics context.
• Passion for teaching and creating effective learning moments.
• Ability to create highly engaging learning environments.
• Focus on learner and customer outcomes, with the ability to adapt instruction to learners with varied tools and skill sets.
• Commitment to improving teaching practice and actively seeking feedback.
• Clear and concise communication with internal and external stakeholders.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-moving, cross-functional collaborative environment.

Nice To Haves

• Experience on customer education or training teams and understanding of how training drives customer outcomes.
• Experience using dbt and/or teaching dbt.
• Experience writing analytics code such as Python or R, in addition to SQL, and working with databases.
• Experience designing curricula using backwards design.

Responsibilities

• Deliver live instruction to train and onboard dbt customers, partners, and GSIs in small groups of approximately 10, larger groups of up to approximately 30, and webinars for audiences of 50–200.
• Create an engaging learning environment, initially remotely and potentially in person in the future.
• Help learners understand how dbt can make an impact at their organizations.
• Clearly teach and demonstrate new concepts and skills.
• Facilitate live co-development sessions in which learners apply what they have learned.
• Adapt instruction in real time while focusing on learner outcomes.
• Share feedback from classroom experience to inform curriculum improvements.
• Develop product expertise in dbt and its place in the modern data stack.
• Contribute to education projects, including curriculum development and workflow improvements.
