About The Position

Fivetran and dbt Labs are bringing together their data infrastructure and analytics engineering capabilities to help organizations move, transform, and trust their data. The Senior Technical Instructor will join the training team and help enterprise customers and partners succeed with dbt, empowering data developers to create and share organizational knowledge. The instructor will initially teach remotely and may teach in person in the future. They will deliver engaging instruction, help learners apply new skills, adapt to varied learner needs, and contribute to curriculum and education workflow improvements.

Requirements

• At least 4 years of teaching experience and some data analytics experience, or at least 4 years of data analytics experience and some teaching experience.
• Experience writing SQL in an analytics context.
• Strong interest in teaching and creating meaningful learning moments.
• Ability to create highly engaging learning environments.
• Focus on learner and customer outcomes and ability to adapt instruction to learners with varied tools and skillsets.
• Commitment to improving teaching practice and actively seeking feedback.
• Clear, concise communication with internal and external stakeholders.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-moving, collaborative environment.

Nice To Haves

• Experience on customer education or training teams and knowledge of how training can drive customer outcomes.
• Experience using dbt and/or teaching dbt.
• Experience writing analytics code such as Python or R in addition to SQL, and working with databases.
• Experience designing curricula using a backwards-design approach.

Responsibilities

• Deliver live instruction to train and onboard dbt customers, partners, and GSIs in small groups of about 10, larger groups of up to about 30, and webinars of 50–200 attendees.
• Create engaging learning environments, initially in remote sessions on Zoom and potentially in person in the future.
• Help learners understand how dbt can make an impact at their organizations.
• Clearly teach and demonstrate new concepts and skills.
• Facilitate live co-development sessions in which learners apply what they have learned.
• Adapt instruction in real time while focusing on learner outcomes.
• Provide feedback from classroom experience to inform curriculum improvements.
• Become an expert in dbt within the context of the modern data stack, if not already.
• Contribute to other education projects, including curriculum development and workflow improvement.
