About The Position

The Senior Technical Architect is a hands-on role responsible for the end-to-end architecture, design, and implementation of mission-critical systems. The architect defines macro- and micro-level architecture and works with engineering teams to modernize a legacy VC++ platform into a React JS/Java-based, event-driven, high-throughput, low-latency microservices platform aligned with cloud-native principles. The role covers architecture and platform design for a distributed Investment Accounting platform, modernization planning and leadership, performance and scalability, and cloud-native engineering. The architect establishes service boundaries and reusable domain-driven designs, event-driven workflows, data and integration patterns across IBOR/ABOR domains, and cross-cutting capabilities such as observability, resiliency, security, and compliance. Hands-on implementation is a core expectation.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in software architecture and distributed-systems design.
  • Strong programming background in VC++ and Java, with proven experience in system modernization.
  • Rich experience with AWS or Azure, modern CI/CD platforms, and pipeline as code.
  • Experience building large-scale distributed systems with low latency and high throughput.
  • Strong understanding of data consistency, transaction processing, and accounting-like systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Investment Accounting or Financial Services platforms, including transactions, valuations, positions, and multi-currency processing.
  • Familiarity with observability and operational-intelligence frameworks, unified data models, and ledger-based architectures.
  • Experience working in regulatory and audit-heavy environments.

Responsibilities

  • Define and evolve architecture for a distributed, cloud-native Investment Accounting platform, aligned with enterprise scalability, resiliency, and availability principles.
  • Design modular microservices architectures with clear service boundaries, domain-driven design, and reuse across business capabilities.
  • Establish event-driven architecture patterns for real-time processing and decoupled, scalable workflows.
  • Define data architecture and integration patterns, including unified data models, event contracts, and consistency strategies across IBOR/ABOR domains.
  • Lead modernization of legacy VC++ systems into Java-based distributed services.
  • Define migration patterns, decomposition strategies, and phased transformation roadmaps.
  • Ensure functional equivalence where required while enabling architectural evolution beyond legacy constraints.
  • Guide teams in translating low-level C++ constructs into scalable Java service patterns, including stateless services and asynchronous processing.
  • Architect high-throughput transaction processing and near-real-time accounting workflows.
  • Define cache-driven design strategies, including distributed caching, in-memory processing, and read/write optimization.
  • Establish performance benchmarks, scalability patterns, and capacity-planning principles.
  • Design and implement cloud-native solutions using containerization, orchestration, and DevSecOps.
  • Establish observability capabilities such as logging, metrics, and tracing.
  • Establish resiliency patterns such as retries, circuit breakers, and idempotency, as well as security and compliance controls.
  • Ensure adherence to API-first and contract-first design principles.
  • Work hands-on with engineering teams to implement architecture.

Benefits

  • 401(k) retirement savings plan with company match.
  • Insurance coverage including basic life, medical, dental, vision, long-term disability, and optional additional coverages.
  • Paid time off including vacation, sick leave, short-term disability, and leave for family care responsibilities.
  • Access to an Employee Assistance Program.
  • Incentive compensation, including eligibility for annual performance-based awards, with some sales-role exceptions.
  • Eligibility for certain tax-advantaged savings plans.
  • Inclusive development opportunities.
  • Flexible work-life support.
  • Paid volunteer days.
