About The Position

This role focuses on enhancing Avalara's website platform by improving the authoring experience. The goal is to make the template and component library a product that simplifies content creation, enabling any contributor to succeed without deep expertise in CMS or web marketing practices. This will lead to faster, more consistent, and measurable content production, with decisions grounded in brand integrity and return on investment.

Requirements

  • Ensure a governed component library and change process is in place, with a measurable reduction in one-off, duplicate, or unsupported components.
  • Achieve measurable improvement in author time-to-publish and reduction in platform-related support requests.
  • Define and implement analytics and behavioral data capture across templates and components.
  • Define and adopt asset management standards (upload, metadata, retrieval) showing measurable improvement in asset findability and metadata completeness.
  • Use AI to accelerate the definition, documentation, and governance of the template and component library.
  • Deploy at least one AI-enabled authoring aid into production.
  • Apply AI to analyze content and analytics data, identifying gaps in reporting and opportunities to improve measurement of user behavior.

  • Apply AI responsibly and securely, with attention to data governance.
  • Share AI practices and tooling with peers.

  • Direct experience with one or more enterprise content management systems or digital experience platforms including author-facing template and component design.
  • Experience defining requirements and guardrails for SEO, tagging, and asset management (DAM) within a content authoring environment.
  • Demonstrated, quantifiable use of AI tools to improve platform governance, content operations, or author enablement.
  • A track record of raising the performance of teams and processes around them.

Responsibilities

  • Own and govern the CMS template and component library, defining its scope, limits, and supported features.
  • Set boundaries for design and feature influence on the platform, ensuring new functionality reinforces brand consistency and demonstrates ROI.
  • Define what behavioral data must be captured across templates and components to understand visitor behavior.
  • Act as the primary source of truth on platform capabilities and constraints for internal stakeholders.
  • Support teams working on internationalization and localization projects, guiding them through content publishing workflows across geographies.
  • Continuously improve the usability of the template and component library to lower the learning curve for authors.
  • Demonstrate platform functionality and design potential to stakeholders exploring new promotional methods.
