About The Position

The Senior Systems Administrator will design, install, configure, maintain, and support operating systems, hardware, and related infrastructure that enable business operations. This role will troubleshoot complex technical issues, manage system performance and upgrades, support end users and development teams, and help maintain a reliable, secure, and efficient technology environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Systems, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum four years of relevant systems administration experience
  • Ability to work required shifts, including weekend, evening, and on-call coverage as needed
  • Experience with Active Directory, including scripting, Group Policy, DNS Server, DHCP Server, and Print Server
  • Experience with Microsoft WSUS, enterprise antivirus server and client environments, and imaging systems
  • Experience supporting Windows Server 2012 to 2016, MS SQL Server 2012 to 2016, IIS, VMware vSphere, vCenter, and VxRail
  • Experience supporting messaging and collaboration platforms such as Micro Focus GroupWise, Microsoft Exchange, and Office 365
  • Strong administration skills across email systems
  • Knowledge of Linux
  • Networking experience with Cisco switches and routers, firewalls, Dell Converged servers, EMC VNX SAN, LAN, WAN, TCP/IP, DNS, VPN, and UDP

  • Specialized licenses or certifications depending on areas supported
  • Certifications such as MCSE, CCNA, CCNP, or CCIE
  • Virtual Desktop Infrastructure experience

Responsibilities

  • Design, install, configure, maintain, and perform system integration testing of operating systems, related utilities, and hardware including PC/server, messaging, UNIX, and financial services systems
  • Document and follow department procedures, network issues, and resolutions for future reference
  • Monitor system performance, implement performance tuning, and ensure system improvements are successfully deployed and monitored to increase efficiency
  • Manage and maintain SolarWinds LEM alerts and reporting
  • Provision, deploy, and maintain PCs, systems, and software across the network
  • Research and recommend hardware and software purchases
  • Manage and maintain user accounts, permissions, email, anti-virus, and anti-spam solutions
  • Provide administration support to the software development team
  • Schedule and perform complex installations and upgrades, including planning, testing, and coordination, in accordance with established IT policies and procedures
  • Develop and define technical and functional requirements for implementations and enhancements to complex operating systems, related utilities, and hardware, and implement enhancements that improve system reliability and performance
  • Troubleshoot complex end user issues and assist with maintaining virtual servers, host clusters, and network and computer infrastructure
  • Participate in the on-call support rotation, provide network and application support to employees, and mentor less experienced staff as needed
