Who We Are The Navy Integrated Training Environment (NITE) System Administrator is responsible for the administration, maintenance, and cybersecurity defense of all Navy Enterprise Tactical Training Network (NETTN) client and server infrastructure supporting enterprise-wide modeling and simulation applications and services for NITE. This role works closely with team members and other departments to update, monitor, and maintain servers and workstations across the enterprise. Additional responsibilities include administering Microsoft Windows and Red Hat Enterprise Linux servers, managing GPOs, creating and modifying DHCP reservations, performing patching and STIG compliance, developing standard operating procedures, training junior personnel, and providing Tier 2 technical support. The individual must be able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.

Requirements

  • 10 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 8 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 14 years relevant experience.
  • Candidate must have a CompTIA Security+ or equivalent certification.
  • Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a US Secret security clearance.
  • Candidate must have RedHat operating systems experience.
  • Candidate must have DoD Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG) experience.
  • Candidate must have strong technical troubleshooting skills.
  • Candidate must have the ability to read and digest technical information.
  • Candiate must have strong attention to detail.
  • Candidate must have strong customer focus, the ability to manage customer needs and multiple work priorities.
  • Candiate must possess excellent oral and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Microsoft WSUS or SCCM
  • Linux+ or equivalent certification
  • Experience with Windows Servers 2016/2019 and Active Directory
  • Experience with Red Hat Satellite system management
  • Windows desktop operating systems
  • RedHat operating systems (RHEL 8/9) experience highly desired
  • Experience with patching Microsoft servers and workstations
  • Experience with VMware
  • Familiarity with VDI technologies and protocols
  • Experience installing release upgrades highly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Maintains smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, including coordination with network administrators.
  • Interacts with users and evaluates vendor products. Makes recommendations to purchase hardware and software, coordinates installation and provides backup recovery.
  • Develops and monitors policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources.
  • Ancillary duties may include setting up administrator and service accounts, maintaining system documentation, tuning system performance, installing system wide software and allocating mass storage space.
