About The Position

LTI (Logic Technology, Inc.) is seeking a Senior Systems Administrator to join their High Performance Computing (HPC) team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Linux operating systems and administration within enterprise environments, coupled with proficiency in scripting languages and a desire to learn about HPC. A consultant mindset, excellent communication, problem-solving skills, and a positive attitude in high-pressure situations are essential. This role involves supporting the HPC Operations team and ensuring the success of high-performing groups.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience with Linux
  • Scripting with Python, Bash, or Perl
  • Experience with storage administration with NetApp or possessing basic knowledge of RAID, storage concepts (aggregates, volumes, qtrees), security (NFS and CIFS)
  • Experience with license managers (Flex and RLM)
  • Knowledge of virtualization solutions and techniques
  • Experience with batch schedulers (PBS, Slurm, and/or Platform LSF)
  • Basic web knowledge (http, xml)
  • Experience in maintaining an enterprise environment with mixed operating systems
  • Experience with HPC
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • High level experience with HP server hardware, remote iLo support and base configurations
  • Proficient with Docker, container technologies, Kubernetes and/or Docker Swarm.
  • Demonstrated high level of proficiency in VMWare, VM ESXi, VDI setup and administration.

  • Expertise in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), CentOS, HP and Dell server hardware, and the Cray Linux Environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and administer Cray XC30/40 and Shasta systems, ensuring optimal performance and availability.
  • Troubleshoot and support Network Attached Storage (NAS) systems, including setup and management of NetApp storage devices.
  • Support key engineering applications on Cray, Linux, and Windows servers.
  • Manage FlexLM and license management systems on UNIX and Windows platforms.
  • Optimize workload management using PBS and job scheduling techniques.
  • Administer and configure UNIX/Linux systems, including patch management and security vulnerability remediation.
  • Utilize container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes for efficient application deployment and management.
  • Collaborate with client management to address infrastructure needs and provide support.
  • Setup, configure, and manage Linux-based clusters and provide support for third-party HPC software.
  • Set up and query databases in Oracle or MySQL environments.
  • Enhance and develop applications using programming languages such as sh, csh, J2EE, PERL, CGI, HTML, C/C++, and Python.
  • Manage VMWare, VM ESXi, and VDI environments, including administration of VMWare VDI using vRA and vRO.
  • Support and troubleshoot DDN and Lustre filesystems, and maintain familiarity with object storage technologies.
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for escalations related to standard HPC infrastructure and software.
  • Provide proficient support for Infiniband networks and their supporting infrastructure.
