Amentum is looking for a Senior Submarine Industrial Support Specialist to join our elite team in Portsmouth, VA. If you have a background in Naval Shipyard modernization and thrive in the fast-paced environment of submarine combat systems, we want to hear from you. In this role, you’ll have a front-row seat to submarine modernization, providing critical oversight and technical expertise to the Government On-Site Installation Coordinators (OSIC). You won’t just be watching the work—you’ll be ensuring it’s done right.

Requirements

  • Active Secret US Government Clearance. (Note: US Citizenship is required to maintain an Active Clearance.)
  • High School Diploma/GED and ten (10) years of practical experience OR degree/formal training and six (6) years experience. (Degree/Formal Training is defined as: Associate’s Degree in Engineering Technology, math, or science; or Formal electronics training from: Technical School, or Class A or B military school in electronics or communications; or four-year electronics apprentice program.)
  • Possess a strong work controls background.

Nice To Haves

  • Submarine Combat Systems Modernization, WAF and Tagout generation, and modernization work controls experience.

Responsibilities

  • Manage schedules, track progress, and lead "hotwash" events for vital programs like SWFTS.
  • Prepare WAFs and SHIPALTs, audit ongoing work, and troubleshoot technical hurdles in real-time.
  • Author LARs and DFS documents, interpreting complex drawings to keep installations on track.
  • Be the voice of technical progress, providing weekly updates and expert reports that keep all stakeholders informed.
  • Conducting deckplate audits and surveillances and document findings.
  • Development of Liaison Action Record (LAR) and Departure From Specification (DFS).
  • Preparation of SHIPALT / ECI WAFs and tags, etc. experience.
  • Project schedule management experience.
  • Identification and tracking of planned vs. actual progress experience.
  • Identification of problem or weak areas with the Alteration Installation Team (AIT) experience.
  • Identification and interpretation of drawing issues experience.
  • Experience working with the AIT to ensure deck plate work sequencing is being properly executed (i.e. right personnel working in the right areas).
  • Providing written inputs to the Government On-Site Installation Coordinator (OSIC) experience.
  • Participation in Planning and Hotwash events to support MIWG and TI-NEXT experience.
  • Attendance of LMA meetings, as directed by the OSIC experience.
  • Trip and weekly status report preparation experience.
  • Technical reports (for drawing issues, LAR submissions, etc.) preparation experience.
