Showing initiative and exercising judgement, you’ll design, develop, analyze, troubleshoot and provide technical skills during research and/or product development, analyze effects of projects upon various areas such as Engineering, Facilities, and the labor pool to determine the most practical and cost-efficient methods to obtain the required resources and design systems, software and equipment layout. Participating on the engineering work team, you’ll develop, implement, install, test, modify and/or operate complex equipment and systems as well as support other team members concerning experiment design, materials, equipment setup/maintenance and related issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Technology degree in Engineering or a related specialized area/field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience, plus 2 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus 0 years of experience.
  • Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire.
  • Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
  • Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required
  • 6–10 years of full-time experience in integrated logistics support, including fleet introduction, installation, test, operation, and life cycle support of the AN/BQQ-10 sonar system and/or a comparable computerized, computer-controlled system of similar complexity
  • Experience developing Navy training documents and materials
  • Familiarity with Linux/Unix systems
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Understanding of agile methodology, including the agile mindset for rapid product development and validation
  • Familiarity with JIRA, Confluence and DOORS or similar requirements and standards repositories
  • Strong leadership qualities and effective team communication skills
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance
  • Willingness to travel and perform duties onboard naval vessels in port and at sea

Nice To Haves

  • Qualified Master Training Specialist or equivalent certification
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel required), XMLSpy, MS Visio, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to prepare documentation for delivery in multiple formats (e.g., .doc, .PDF, HTML, and XML/SGML-tagged online and IETM)
  • Experience employing Instructional Design practices to design curriculum supporting operations and maintenance training
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and work effectively under pressure
  • Qualified as an Agile Scrum Master or Product Owner (or equivalent)

Responsibilities

  • Direct and assist with procedure development, troubleshooting, and maintenance at Land-Based Test Sites (LBTS) and onboard US Navy Submarines
  • Review and provide input/feedback on draft and preliminary MIP/MRCs and technical documentation as needed
  • Validate and test procedures during testing events in the lab and aboard submarines, which may require shift work to complete
  • Develop operations and maintenance procedures for incorporation into electronic technical manuals (ETMs) using engineering source documents and materials gathered from engineering teams
  • Develop and deliver operations and maintenance training using MS Office products to support the AN/BQQ-10 sonar system
  • Develop electronic technical manuals to support O-Level operations and maintenance using principles of agile development
  • Apply sound configuration management principles to ensure document integrity is maintained
  • Maintain and develop a team concept schedule for product development
  • Manage planned work forecasting in support of budget and execution planning
  • Travel to support Navy customers, including duties performed onboard naval vessels in port and at sea
