About The Position

This role is within the Civil and Administrative Justice Statistics team, part of the Analysis Directorate. The Analysis Directorate is passionate about improving justice outcomes through innovative research, data, and analysis. They provide high-quality data and analysis to ensure strategic, policy, finance, corporate, and operational decisions are evidence-based. The directorate is a multi-disciplinary team of around 300 staff, working in a dynamic and fast-paced context. The role involves working collaboratively with stakeholders from across the MoJ and Other Government Departments, transforming data into meaningful insights. The successful candidate will lead the production of regular Civil and Administrative Justice statistical outputs, conduct in-depth quality assurance, lead the team's response to enquiries, and take ownership of data processing improvements. There is also a possibility of line managing a HEO within the team.

Requirements

  • Significant work experience evidencing use of data and/or analytical skills (time spent on an analytical PhD can count towards this).
  • Experience of leading and delivering substantial data analysis at pace, maximising the use of internal resources in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience of working across complex teams with differing priorities and keeping projects on track.
  • Experience of working with a range of stakeholders, with the ability to build strong, robust relationships and translating stakeholder needs into actions.
  • Strong ability to plan, prioritise and lead an analytical project with challenging and competing timelines.
  • Experience of developing in R and SQL for handling large datasets and writing analysis.
  • Experience of managing and developing others, prioritising and delegating tasks in line with organisational objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the production of regular Civil and Administrative Justice statistical outputs.
  • Carry out in-depth quality assurance checks, ensuring publications meet high standards and user needs.
  • Lead the team’s response to any enquiries relevant to your publications.
  • Take ownership of relevant work to improve the team’s data processing, such as developing new metrics, rewriting existing code, maximising efficiency and improving quality assurance processes.
  • Work alongside the wider Analytical community to provide robust and high-impact analysis to deliver the organisation’s priorities.
  • Potentially line manage a HEO within the team.
