About The Position

The Statistical Analyst high-level analytical and statistical support to the Air and Marine Operations Training, Safety, and Standards Division. This role involves managing data collection, analysis, evaluation, documentation, and presentation of Air and Marine safety and training statistics. Key responsibilities include assessing the state of air and marine safety operations from an analytical perspective, measuring performance, developing reports and briefings, and offering statistical consulting services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in statistics, mathematics or a closely related discipline.
  • Applicable data analytics experience required in lieu of degree. (4 years)
  • A minimum of 7 years’ experience in the following:
  • Proficiency in statistical software (e.g. SPSS, SAS) and database management applications a plus.
  • Experience with the Safety Management System (SMS), preferably in aviation and marine environments
  • Expertise in safety related root cause analysis, risk assessment, and risk management
  • Experience in management consulting, including statistics, performance metrics development, process engineering, and data analysis.
  • Significant expertise in qualitative and quantitative analysis, particularly as applied to safety and training.
  • Proven experience in strategic planning, survey design, requirements gathering and analysis, analytical report development and presentation, technical writing, and strategic/senior leader communications.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and SharePoint.
  • Positive adjudication from a CBP Background Investigation.

  • Master’s degree in statistics, mathematics or a closely related discipline
  • Project Management Institute (PMI) Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Advise on the collection, transformation, and analysis of quantitative safety and training data.
  • Execute statistical techniques to test hypotheses related to safety, training, and proficiency.
  • Develop periodic reports, action plans, and briefings (annual, quarterly, monthly) utilizing descriptive and inferential statistics.
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for program evaluation and performance outcomes measurement, including interpreting safety and training data.
  • Support the development and application of the Human Factors Analysis and Classification System (HFACS) for AMO-specific safety and training, encompassing framework concept, construction, graphical tool creation, testing, standardization, and implementation.
  • Provide technical writing and editing expertise.
  • Draft technical communiqués and other written communications, including safety and training directives, as needed.
