Senior Staff UX Designer

Wing•Palo Alto, CA

About The Position

Wing is seeking a Senior Staff UX Designer to join its Product & UX team. The position may be hybrid in Palo Alto, California, or fully remote within the United States. As a senior individual contributor, the designer will lead end-to-end design across consumer-facing applications, partner and merchant operations, and internal tools supporting flight and logistics operations. The role focuses on designing at the intersection of physical and software experiences, working across hardware, ground logistics, and software to take complex, ambiguous problems from early concept through execution. The designer will partner with Product Management, Engineering, UX Research, Hardware, and Aviation Operations teams to shape experiences for Wing’s autonomous drone delivery ecosystem. They will help establish design excellence and craft, mentor other designers, and ensure the technology is functional, efficient, intuitive, proactive, and human-centric. Wing develops and operates autonomous delivery aircraft and services intended to provide fast, safe, and sustainable last-mile delivery.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of experience in design, product design, or interaction design, with a track record of designing and shipping impactful consumer, enterprise, or multi-platform software products.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end product design, systems thinking, interaction and visual design craft, and shipped products.
  • BA/BS degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Experience designing for complex, multi-sided ecosystems, physical-software workflows, or automated/AI-powered systems where user trust is critical.
  • Expert proficiency with modern design and prototyping tools, such as Figma and rapid or AI-assisted prototyping.
  • Experience contributing to or scaling design systems.
  • Ability to work autonomously in high-ambiguity environments, frame complex problems, and drive design vision and strategy from concept through iterative execution.
  • Strong communication, storytelling, and cross-functional collaboration skills, including the ability to align Product, Engineering, and business stakeholders on design decisions.
  • Track record of individual-contributor design leadership, including raising design quality standards, establishing design processes, and mentoring designers.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end design across the product lifecycle, from discovery, user journeys, and information architecture through interactive prototypes and high-fidelity visual execution.
  • Design intuitive experiences for consumer-facing mobile applications and scalable integration experiences for retail and delivery partners.
  • Map and optimize workflows spanning merchant fulfillment, ground operations, and real-time delivery logistics.
  • Design internal tools and operational dashboards for configuring, monitoring, and managing autonomous aircraft fleets and delivery networks.
  • Partner with UX Research to plan interviews, studies, and testing, and translate qualitative insights into design decisions.
  • Contribute to, evolve, and scale the design system and visual language across the Wing ecosystem.
  • Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Hardware, and Aviation Operations teams to address technical and regulatory constraints.
  • Elevate design craft through critiques, mentorship, design leadership, and improvements to design standards and processes.
