About The Position

Millwood, Inc. is seeking a Senior Staff Accountant to join their team at the company headquarters in Vienna, OH. This on-site, non-hybrid role operates on a Monday - Friday schedule from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Senior Staff Accountant will report directly to the Assistant Controller and collaborate closely with the Corporate Controller and Inventory Team. The primary focus of this role is to ensure adherence to proper accounting policies and procedures and to support the Company and SBU's objectives, mission, and values. The ideal candidate will be a strong businessperson with excellent technical skills, unquestionable personal integrity, and a strong work ethic, who appreciates and embraces the company culture and values. They should also be a genuine person with high Integrity, Trust, Servitude, and Discipleship, possessing excellent business, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point, and Outlook) and the ability to learn new software programs as required.
  • Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) in accounting from accredited college or university; and two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Manages, communicates, and conducts behavior in direct support of company foundation and pillars
  • Ensures prompt and accurate closing process and compliant reporting procedures
  • Responsible for the accuracy of the balance sheet
  • Evaluate internal control systems
  • Monitor and review balance sheet reconciliations
  • Cost accounting responsibilities including supporting physical inventory counts and cycle count programs, maintaining and monitoring standard cost for raw materials, labor and overhead, preparing monthly inventory reconciliations, reviewing and analyzing inventory transactions to ensure accurate costing, and ensuring accuracy of bill of materials
  • Maintain knowledge of a wide variety of prescribed accounting codes and classifications in order to select appropriate procedures for application to specific accounting transactions
  • Assist accounting team with coding of various transactions
  • Perform other duties as assigned
