Senior Specialist, Electrical Engineer- FPGA

L3Harris Technologies•City of Rochester, NY
•$92,500 - $171,500

About The Position

L3Harris is seeking a signal-processing-focused digital design and verification engineer to support development of tactical communication products. In a cross-functional team environment, the engineer will design, verify, and test modem- and signal-processing-based FPGA firmware for radio communication systems. The role involves analyzing requirements, developing FPGA specifications and development plans, creating verification and test plans, coding firmware designs in VHDL, and verifying that designs meet requirements. The engineer will work on FPGA-based processing solutions and complex modem or DSP circuits for programmable logic, with related ASIC design experience also applicable. The role also involves embedded communications-system design, algorithm implementation and verification in FPGAs and software, detailed analysis of radio communications products, collaboration with cross-functional teams, and presenting design reviews and technical updates to internal and external customers. The position is based in Rochester, New York, and follows a 9/80 schedule: 80 hours over nine workdays in each 14-day period, with every other Friday off.

  • Experience developing RTL using VHDL.
  • Experience with FPGA verification methodologies using SystemVerilog.
  • Experience with Universal Verification Methodology (UVM).
  • Broad experience in embedded system design and solutions for communications systems.
  • Working knowledge and experience implementing and testing modem RF designs.
  • Experience with MATLAB, Simulink, or similar DSP modeling tools.
  • Experience with FPGA vendor-specific implementation tools such as Vivado, Quartus, or Libero.
  • Proficiency with TCL and Python scripting languages.
  • Experience working in a Linux-based development environment.
  • Ability to obtain a US Secret Security Clearance.
