About The Position

BJC HealthCare is hiring a Senior Solutions Infrastructure Engineer (Sr. Infrastructure Solutions Engineer) to design and deploy technical configuration items from the approved technology portfolio in support of larger and more complex business solutions. The senior role also supports technical debt management by proactively identifying risks and threats associated with legacy platforms and proposing remediations.

This is a remote position, with applicants sought in the St. Louis metro area. Occasional onsite work is required. The role focuses on storage, data center, and VMware infrastructure. BJC HealthCare is a nonprofit health care organization serving communities across the greater St. Louis, southern Illinois, and southeast Missouri regions.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• 5–10 years of experience.
• Experience or skills in storage, data center, and VMware infrastructure.
• Ability to design large or complex systems and evaluate design options and trade-offs.
• Knowledge of system design methods, tools, and techniques.
• Ability to specify network connectivity, capacity, speed, interfacing, security, and access parameters.
• Ability to work remotely, with occasional onsite work in the St. Louis metro area.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree.
• 10+ years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Design large or complex systems and assess the impact of major design options and trade-offs.
• Take technical responsibility across all stages and iterations of configuration development and deployment.
• Adopt and adapt system design methods, tools, and techniques; contribute to system design policies, standards, and architecture component selection.
• Produce, or approve network providers’ network architectures, topologies, and configuration databases within the area of responsibility.
• Specify network connectivity, capacity, speed, interfacing, security, and access design parameters in line with business requirements.
• Collaborate with those responsible for ongoing systems and software life-cycle management to select, adopt, and adapt working practices.
• Proactively identify risks and threats from legacy platforms and propose remediation options to manage technical debt.
