About The Position

The Senior Solutions Architect designs complex end-to-end solutions that combine Cognite products with customers’ existing portfolios. As a technical subject matter expert across Cognite’s professional and managed services offerings, the architect works with sales and delivery teams, data scientists, and customers from discovery through implementation to identify technical requirements and develop robust solutions that fit the customer’s environment.

The role combines consulting, architecture, and product development. Working with strategic customers, the architect identifies opportunities for new products and features and collaborates with product managers and technical leads to improve Cognite’s SaaS offering. The architect advises customers and partners on Cognite Data Fusion and helps project teams deliver quality implementations, including appropriate visualization and data transformation technologies, efficient data modeling and contextualization, robust integrations, operational support arrangements, and quality controls.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience as an application, data, solution, or enterprise architect.
• At least 2 years of experience in a heavy asset industry such as Oil & Gas, manufacturing, or pharmaceuticals.
• Experience with operational data and customer business drivers in the heavy asset industry.
• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Consulting experience and the ability to confidently negotiate requirements with customers and colleagues.
• Experience with enterprise integration, customer relationships, or IT integration design.
• Data and analytics project experience, with the ability to confidently lead an implementation.
• Broad technical experience with data and analytics stacks.
• Familiarity with business intelligence tools and enterprise analytics stacks, such as Power BI or similar.
• Familiarity with SQL and big data tooling, such as the Apache Spark ecosystem.
• Experience with a public cloud; familiarity with network security concepts, identity providers, and application hosting.
• Experience with operations, including support and change control, and with architecting centralized monitoring, logging, and reporting.
• DevOps mindset and experience with Git, CI/CD, and deployment environments.
• Technical background and willingness and ability to contribute code for advanced topics when needed.
• Architectural skills in data modeling and infrastructure solutions, such as classical data warehousing and big data architectures.

• Master’s degree.
• Experience with a public cloud such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.

Responsibilities

• Design end-to-end technical solutions and ensure they fit the customer ecosystem and target architecture.
• Work with project teams to map requirements and guide quality implementations.
• Select and apply appropriate data visualization and data transformation technologies.
• Ensure data is efficiently modeled and contextualized in Cognite Data Fusion, including graph and relational approaches.
• Design robust integrations and data models using Cognite data connectors, SQL, Python or Java, and REST APIs.
• Ensure important solution quality criteria are met, including CI/CD, logging, and security.
• Define operational responsibility and support agreements for delivered solutions.
• Advise customers and partners on Cognite Data Fusion.
• Identify opportunities for new products and features through work with strategic customers, and collaborate with product managers and technical leads to improve Cognite’s SaaS offering.
• Lead data and analytics implementations and negotiate requirements with customers and colleagues.
• Contribute code for advanced topics when needed.
