About The Position

The Senior Software Engineer performs solution design and software architecture work, including distributed systems, scalability, design patterns, disaster recovery, technology stacks, minimum viable products, non-functional requirements, and telemetry. The role assists with designing solutions for product components and modules, evaluating design trade-offs against business requirements, and converting high-level designs into detailed designs using mock screens, pseudocode, and functional logic. The position conducts requirements and scoping analysis, including traceability, risk and cost analysis, business objectives, requirement classification, and user stories. It assesses gaps between customer or business expectations and existing solutions, identifies and communicates risks, and contributes to user stories for components and applications. The engineer reviews and applies coding standards, languages, frameworks, tools, platforms, and quality, safety, and security standards to develop software that meets business and technical requirements, including non-functional, maintainability, availability, and scalability needs. The role also selects appropriate development languages, standards, and tools; automates repetitive tasks in CI/CD and testing; implements telemetry; and applies security policies during development. The engineer performs testing activities including test planning, case preparation, strategy and tool selection, root-cause analysis, mapping customer requirements to test objectives, creating and executing test cases, and using appropriate testing tools to identify code errors and defects. The role also requires substantial SAP HANA administration and optimization work, including performance monitoring and tuning, patching, backups and recovery, database migration, health checks, high availability, disaster recovery planning, process automation, and management of security certificates and licenses.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
At least 3 years of experience in software engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience with the required skills as stated by the employer.
Experience with SAP HANA database performance monitoring, fine-tuning and optimization, workload classes, software patching, backups, and recovery.
Experience with SAP HANA support patch installation, uninstallation, and upgrades, as well as HANA database migration.
Experience using SAP Notes to address SAP HANA database index server issues.
Experience conducting HANA health checks using SAP Mini-check, custom scripts, and automated tasks.
Experience with system administration using SAP HANA Cockpit and HANA Studio.
Experience operating HANA on multiple nodes with Pacemaker for high availability.
Experience with HANA data volume defragmentation and table partitioning.
Experience with HANA database start and stop processes and automation with Lama.
Experience developing, implementing, and maintaining disaster recovery plans.
Experience automating and simplifying SAP HANA delivery processes.
Experience managing SAP HANA security certificates and licenses.

Responsibilities

Perform solution design, including software architecture, distributed systems, scalability, design patterns, disaster recovery, technology stacks, MVPs, non-functional requirements, and telemetry.
Assist in designing solutions so processes and applications work together for product components and modules.
Evaluate design trade-offs based on business requirements and convert high-level designs into detailed designs, mock screens, pseudocode, and functional logic.
Conduct requirements and scoping analysis, including traceability, risk and cost analysis, business objectives, requirement classification, and user stories.
Assess gaps between customer or business expectations and existing products or solutions; identify risks, notify stakeholders, and recommend corrective steps.
Review and apply coding standards, languages, frameworks, tools, platforms, and quality, safety, and security standards to develop and configure software.
Assist in selecting programming languages, development standards, and tools.
Build scripts to automate repetitive tasks in CI/CD, testing, or other processes.
Implement telemetry features and ensure security policy requirements are applied during development.
Prepare test cases and objectives, map customer requirements to test objectives, select appropriate testing tools, and execute tests to identify errors and defects.
Monitor and optimize SAP HANA database performance, including fine-tuning, workload classes, software patching, backups, and recovery.
Install, uninstall, and upgrade SAP HANA support patches; perform HANA database migrations and use SAP Notes to address index server issues.
Perform HANA health checks using SAP Mini-check, custom scripts, and automated tasks.
Administer systems using SAP HANA Cockpit and HANA Studio, and operate HANA on multiple nodes with Pacemaker for high availability.
Defragment HANA data volumes and partition tables; manage HANA database start and stop processes and automate them with Lama.
Develop, implement, and maintain disaster recovery plans in accordance with departmental and organizational requirements.
Automate and simplify HANA delivery processes to support consistent results and project timelines.
Supervise and manage SAP HANA security certificates and licenses.
