About The Position

Certora is seeking a highly execution-driven Senior Software Engineer who enjoys writing code and rapidly taking projects to production. The role involves integrating into ongoing projects, learning existing codebases, and delivering immediate technical value. The engineer will solve complex architectural problems, design scalable systems, and research industry standards to incorporate best practices into the codebase. Most of the work is focused on writing high-quality backend code, working in AWS environments, and addressing challenging engineering problems at a fast pace.

Certora is a Web3 security assurance company founded in 2018. It combines formal verification tools with expert advisory services to help protocols secure their systems and build confidence in their correctness. The role offers the opportunity to work on Web3 security and blockchain-based applications in a distributed, supportive startup environment.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of professional software development experience, with a strong background in backend engineering and technical design.
• At least 1 year of experience using coding agents such as Claude or Codex while maintaining code quality, robust design, clean code, and testing.
• Ability to adapt quickly, learn new systems on the fly, and deliver at high velocity without sacrificing code quality.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for clarifying technical requirements and documenting architectural decisions.

Nice To Haves

• Strong understanding of security best practices.
• Experience across the full software stack, including frontend frameworks or interfaces.
• Experience with cloud ecosystems outside AWS, such as Railway or Google Cloud.
• Experience optimizing and maintaining legacy infrastructure while transitioning to newer architectures.

Responsibilities

• Write clean, performant, well-tested code and scripts daily, moving projects from concept to production rapidly.
• Own technical design and architectural solutions for complex backend and infrastructure challenges.
• Ramp up quickly on existing codebases and ongoing initiatives, contributing to feature delivery and infrastructure maintenance.
• Develop production-grade deliverables using LLM-assisted coding and review contributions by coding agents.
• Research, evaluate, and implement modern software engineering practices to keep the technology stack and architectures efficient, secure, and maintainable.
