About The Position

Microsoft is hiring Senior Software Engineers for multiple openings across teams in its Security organization. Microsoft Security works to protect customers and digital technology platforms, devices, and clouds in heterogeneous environments, while also securing Microsoft’s internal estate. The organization aims to provide simplified, end-to-end security solutions and fosters a culture of inclusion, growth, and collaboration.

In this role, you will design and develop large-scale distributed software services and solutions. You will apply modern engineering practices, participate in system and code reviews, use data and telemetry to guide decisions, and ensure services are modular, secure, reliable, diagnosable, monitored, and reusable. You will improve test coverage, implement integration tests, resolve problem areas, and balance testability, portability, reliability, and maintainability when determining whether code is ready to ship. You will also work with product and engineering teammates to deliver cohesive customer experiences and optimize automation, reliability, and monitoring for Live Site.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field and 4+ years of technical engineering experience coding in languages including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python, or equivalent experience.
• 4+ years of experience with distributed services.
• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements, including passing the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire or transfer and every two years thereafter.

Nice To Haves

• Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field and 3+ years of technical engineering experience coding in languages including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python; or a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field and 5+ years of such experience; or equivalent experience.
• 2+ years of experience designing, developing, or maintaining secure software systems, with applied knowledge of authentication, data protection, access control, and secure coding practices.
• 2+ years of experience designing, building, and operating scalable, highly available cloud services or distributed systems on Azure, AWS, GCP, or comparable cloud environments, with production ownership, CI/CD pipeline integration, and automated testing practices.
• Experience building or integrating AI/ML-powered systems or workflows, including safe handling of model outputs, orchestration, or agent-based systems.

• Consider testability, portability, reliability, and maintainability, and determine when code is ready to ship.
• Collaborate with leaders and product and engineering teammates to contribute to cohesive, end-to-end customer experiences focused on customer and partner needs using a data-driven approach.
• Troubleshoot and optimize automation, reliability, and monitoring for Live Site.
