About The Position

By joining Bio-Techne, you’ll join a company with a powerful and positive purpose of enabling cutting-edge research in Life Sciences and Clinical Diagnostics. Bio-Techne, and all of its brands, provides tools for researchers to further treat and prevent disease worldwide. We're rethinking protein tools and helping thousands of researchers around the world resolve their protein analysis problems so they can reveal new insights into disease. Software is vital to our success in developing award-winning biotech instruments and enterprise LIMS platforms for the life sciences industry. We are seeking a versatile, highly disciplined Software Engineer to drive the implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of scalable web applications, data analytics workflows, and instrument control software. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams—including scientists, product management, and SQA—to translate complex requirements into robust, production-grade software.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of professional experience developing commercial or enterprise full-stack software applications.
  • Proficient and demonstrable hands-on experience with C#, .NET Core, ASP.NET MVC, Entity Framework Core, and SQL Server.
  • Experience building modern web applications utilizing Blazor, RESTful APIs, and microservice architecture.
  • Advanced proficiency with Git version control, CI/CD pipelines, and GitHub workflow tools.
  • Solid understanding of software design patterns (MVC, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Dependency Injection).
  • Proven ability to work autonomously, estimate work accurately, timebox technical tasks, and maintain proactive, real-time communication (Jira tracking, async updates, and early blocker escalation) across engineering teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field.
  • Hands-on experience with Python for data analysis, automation, or algorithm testing.
  • Background in regulated life sciences environments (ISO-13485, GMP / 21 CFR Part 11 compliance).
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS or Azure) and containerized deployments.
  • Familiarity with instrument control protocols, cameras, or signal processing algorithms.
  • Ability to work comfortably in a laboratory environment to test, debug, and validate software directly against hardware instruments and prototype rigs.

Responsibilities

  • Actively participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle—from technical breakdown and design through C#/.NET development, unit testing, SQA handoff, and deployment.
  • Isolate root causes of complex technical bugs across distributed codebases. Refactor legacy C#/.NET components into testable, clean architecture.
  • Leverage AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, LLMs) to accelerate routine implementation, unit test generation, and documentation—while maintaining strict architectural oversight, code comprehension, and rigorous manual verification of all generated output.
  • Balance technical excellence with steady velocity—prioritizing incremental releases, practical scope management, and high-throughput execution through SQA.
  • Partner effectively with scientists, hardware engineers, and software quality assurance to resolve complex software-hardware integration challenges and streamline pipeline workflows.
  • Ensure software engineering practices align with ISO-13485 regulatory frameworks and 21 CFR Part 11 compliance requirements.

Benefits

  • Competitive insurance benefits starting on day one: medical, dental, vision, life, short-term disability, long-term disability, pet, and legal and ID shield.
  • 401k plans, an employee stock purchase plan (ESPP), Health Saving Account (HSA), Flexible Spending Account (FSA), and Dependent Care FSA.
  • Mentorship, promotional opportunities, training and development, tuition reimbursement, internship programs, and more.
  • Employee resource groups, volunteer paid time off, employee events, and charity drives.
  • Accrued leave policy with paid holidays, paid time off, and paid parental leave.
