About The Position

This role involves building real products alongside founders and a small, high-performing engineering team. The position is not entirely undefined but also not greenfield, requiring work within established patterns and codebases. The engineering team is small and supports over 1,000 active clients using a Rails/Postgres stack with integrated AI-assisted development workflows. The team emphasizes a TDD-first codebase with CI pipelines and structured project context, fostering an environment where engineers have autonomy within well-defined boundaries, including a tested codebase, clear architectural patterns, and context documentation for independent shipping.

Requirements

Experience with PHP, Python, or Ruby
Ability to show personal projects (GitHub projects, side tools, automation scripts, or personal software projects)
Systems and workflow thinking beyond just coding
Curiosity about how AI changes software development
Experience building AI-assisted development workflows
Demonstrated ability to show a project where AI assistance measurably changed development speed or approach
Demonstrated ability to explain how AI workflows are supported with other scripts or tools
Knowledge of how to feed data into AI for quality results
Experience building a workflow to validate AI output
Experience with a workflow where AI provided incorrect information and how it was handled
Understanding of where AI helps and where it breaks down in workflows

Responsibilities

Design and build product features within a structured Rails codebase using a tests-first approach in a CI/CD environment
Improve internal tooling, automation and data workflows
Build integrations with mid-market and enterprise clients
Use and refine AI-assisted development workflows and tools
Contribute to architectural decisions as our platform's data model and intelligence layer grows
