Overland AI is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to strengthen the behavior and planning backbone of its autonomy stack. The role bridges algorithmic research and physical deployment, with responsibility for the reliability, performance, and architecture of robotic software. The engineer works across perception, planning, and controls to ensure interconnected subsystems operate reliably, efficiently, and safely. The position includes designing fault-tolerant architectures for autonomous operations; defining inter-process communication, data flows, and state management, primarily across the behaviors and planning stack; and profiling and optimizing critical-path C++ code for latency and compute efficiency on edge hardware. The engineer also integrates algorithms and models into production-grade systems, builds logging, debugging, and offline-evaluation infrastructure, and leads system-level troubleshooting of race conditions, memory leaks, and timing issues. The role is based in Seattle, Washington. Compensation is listed at $150,000–$230,000 annually, with actual level and base salary determined case by case based on job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience. The position may involve access to export-controlled technology, and employment is contingent on the ability to comply with U.S. export control laws.
