About The Position

Google's software engineers develop next-generation technologies that change how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information. They work on products that handle information at massive scale across areas such as distributed computing, large-scale system design, networking, data storage, security, and artificial intelligence. Engineers work on projects critical to Google’s needs, with opportunities to switch teams and projects as the business evolves, and are expected to be versatile, demonstrate leadership qualities, and take on new problems across the full stack. The Payments team focuses on making payments simple, seamless, and secure. Its work includes consumer payment technologies such as online payments with Autofill, tap and pay in stores, and the Google Pay app, as well as money movement between Google and its consumers and businesses. Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages.
3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
3 years of experience developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems, or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage, or hardware architecture.
1 year of experience in the payments industry.

Nice To Haves

Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
5 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
1 year of experience in a technical leadership role.
Experience designing enterprise-grade system architectures, defining technical standards, and aligning architectural choices with strategic business goals.

Responsibilities

Write and test product or system development code.
Participate in or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide among available technologies.
Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices, including style guidelines, code check-in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency.
Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt it based on product or program updates and user feedback.
Triage product or system issues and debug, track, and resolve them by analyzing their sources and their impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
