Senior Software Engineer (CCC Auto / Agentic)

EvolutionIQ•Chicago, NY
•$180,000 - $225,000

About The Position

CCC Intelligent Solutions Inc. is a cloud platform serving the insurance economy, supporting insurers, repairers, automakers, and parts suppliers. The company provides technology to more than 35,000 businesses and develops AI solutions for claims and vehicle repair. The Senior Software Engineer - Agentic builds event-driven systems that connect AI agents to CCC services and keep claims moving. The engineer owns a product area end to end, from scoping ambiguous problems with product managers and data scientists through delivery and production operations, and defines the reliability standards for shipped systems. Agentic coding tools are used to accelerate development, with a focus on distributed-systems design, correctness under failure, and complex debugging. The position is bonus eligible, with a stated salary range of $180,000–$225,000. The role participates in a shared on-call rotation for the systems it owns.

Requirements

  • At least 6 years of professional software engineering experience, including designing, shipping to customers, and operating an event-driven system in production.
  • Advanced Python and TypeScript skills sufficient to establish team conventions, plus experience with a systems language such as Rust, Go, Java, or C#.
  • Strong computer science and distributed-systems fundamentals applied in professional work, including concurrency, consistency, ordering, and system failure behavior.
  • Experience building event-driven systems with a broker such as Kafka, Azure Event Hubs, or Service Bus, handling duplicate, late, and failed events without losing or double-processing work.
  • Experience modeling and developing across relational, document, and graph databases, such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Neo4j, including decisions about database fit, partition keys, consistency, and tenant isolation.
  • Experience architecting and operating systems on Azure or AWS, with CI/CD and infrastructure as code, and hands-on experience with a durable workflow engine such as Temporal or Durable Task Scheduler.
  • Daily production-work use of an agentic coding tool such as Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or similar; ability to explain how its context and output are constrained and verified, including examples of generated changes rejected and why.
  • Experience authoring technical design documents for systems spanning more than one team, using them to obtain feedback and buy-in before implementation, and having teams build to those designs.
  • Clear written and verbal communication with technical and non-technical audiences, including eliciting customer needs and explaining trade-offs.

Nice To Haves

  • React and TypeScript experience for end-to-end full-stack delivery, particularly chat, streaming, and citation-heavy AI experiences.
  • Experience with formal methods or fault-injection testing, such as Lean, TLA+, or deterministic simulation.
  • Performance work below the application layer, including profiling, memory, and concurrency tuning.
  • Familiarity with how AI agents connect to tools and enterprise systems through MCP, A2A, command-line tools, and microservices.
  • Exposure to insurance, claims, or automotive repair domains.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver backend services in Python and TypeScript, taking work from problem definition and scoping through production operation.
  • Build and operate durable, event-driven, multi-tenant systems in which agents run as steps in deterministic workflows; design failure modes, replay semantics, and cost profiles.
  • Own tracing and audit for the product area, recording model calls and agent steps so recommendations can be reconstructed and traced to their sources.
  • Own the modeling and management of claims-automation data across relational, document, and graph stores, while ensuring sensitive data is secure and isolated.
  • Write design documents for complex systems, seek feedback and buy-in, review other engineers’ designs and code, and mentor engineers.
  • Improve team practices for agentic coding tools by refining specifications, instruction files, hooks, and permission policies, and reviewing generated code to the same standard as other code.
  • Participate in a shared on-call rotation for owned systems.
  • Work with product managers, data scientists, and customers to define scope, explain trade-offs, and deliver reliable systems.
