Senior Software Engineer (CCC Auto / Agentic)

EvolutionIQ•Chicago, IL
•$180,000 - $225,000

About The Position

As a Senior Software Engineer - Agentic, you will build event-driven systems that connect CCC’s AI agents to the rest of its platform and keep customer claims moving. You will own a product area end to end, from scoping ambiguous problems with product managers and data scientists through production operation, and define the reliability standards for what you ship. The role emphasizes distributed-systems design, correctness under partial failures, and effective debugging, with agentic coding tools used to accelerate development. You will build backend services using Python and TypeScript, design durable multi-tenant workflows, and manage tracing, auditability, and claims automation data across relational, document, and graph databases. You will author and review design documents and code, mentor engineers, improve the team’s use of agentic coding tools, and participate in a shared on-call rotation. The position is bonus eligible, with a stated salary range of $180,000–$225,000. CCC describes its culture as collaborative and values-driven, with a commitment to employee development and inclusion.

Requirements

  • At least 6 years of professional software engineering experience, including designing, shipping to customers, and operating an event-driven system in production.
  • Python and TypeScript expertise sufficient to set team conventions, plus experience with a systems language such as Rust, Go, Java, or C#.
  • Strong computer science and distributed-systems fundamentals applied at work, including concurrency, consistency, ordering, and failure behavior.
  • Experience building event-driven systems using a broker such as Kafka, Azure Event Hubs, or Service Bus, handling duplicate, late, and failed events without losing or double-processing work.
  • Experience modeling data and developing across relational, document, and graph databases such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Neo4j, including decisions involving database fit, partition keys, consistency, and tenant isolation.
  • Experience architecting and operating systems on Azure or AWS, using CI/CD and infrastructure as code, and hands-on experience with a durable workflow engine such as Temporal or Durable Task Scheduler.
  • Daily production use of an agentic coding tool such as Claude Code, Cursor, or GitHub Copilot, with the ability to explain how its context and output are constrained and verified, including examples of changes rejected and why.
  • Authored technical design documents for systems spanning more than one team, used to obtain feedback and buy-in before implementation and subsequently used by those teams to build the systems.
  • Clear written and verbal communication with technical and non-technical audiences, including eliciting customer problems and explaining trade-offs.

Nice To Haves

  • React and TypeScript experience enabling end-to-end full-stack feature delivery, especially chat, streaming, and citation-heavy AI experiences.
  • Experience with formal methods or fault-injection testing, such as Lean, TLA+, or deterministic simulation.
  • Performance work below the application layer, including profiling, memory, and concurrency tuning.
  • Familiarity with how AI agents connect to tools and enterprise systems through MCP, A2A, command-line tools, and microservices.
  • Exposure to insurance, claims, or automotive repair domains.

Responsibilities

  • Own delivery and production operation of Python and TypeScript backend services, from problem scoping with product managers and data scientists through launch.
  • Build and operate durable, event-driven, multi-tenant systems where agents run within deterministic workflows; design failure handling, replay semantics, and cost profiles.
  • Own tracing and audit capabilities for the product area, recording model calls and agent steps so recommendations can be reconstructed and traced to sources.
  • Own modeling and management of claims automation data across relational, document, and graph stores, ensuring sensitive data is secure and isolated.
  • Write design documents for complex systems to obtain feedback and buy-in, review other engineers’ designs and code, and mentor engineers.
  • Improve team practices for agentic coding tools, including specifications, instruction files, hooks, and permission policies; review generated code to the team’s standards before merging.
  • Participate in a shared on-call rotation for owned systems.

  • 401K match
  • Paid time off
  • Annual Incentive Plan performance bonus
  • Comprehensive health insurance
  • Adoption assistance
  • Tuition reimbursement
