Senior Software Engineer - Client Lifecycle

Virta Health•Seattle, WA
•Remote

About The Position

As a Senior Software Engineer on Virta Health’s Revenue & Contracts (ReCon) team, you will build systems that turn care delivered into revenue recognized. ReCon owns Virta’s end-to-end quote-to-cash path, including customer contract and pricing configuration, converting clinical events into billable episodes of care, subscription and invoice generation, claims submission to payors, and reconciliation across commercial, billing, and clinical data. The accuracy of these systems is customer-facing: health plans, PBMs, and employers rely on the data both to pay Virta and to bill their own clients. You will lead projects from ambiguous stakeholder problems through design, review, and production ownership; build and extend Go services; strengthen billing assertions and reconciliation; and create self-service tools for finance, revenue cycle management (RCM), and client operations. You will also apply AI where useful, contribute to design and code reviews, and mentor engineers. Virta is a remote-first company with office hubs in Denver and San Francisco. The work may involve sensitive patient information governed by HIPAA, and employees are expected to follow security and privacy procedures; training is provided.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years building and operating backend services in production, using Go or another statically typed language.
  • Experience with event-driven architectures and failure modes including eventual consistency, ordering, idempotency, and systems that disagree.
  • Strong SQL skills and comfort working across application code and the analytics layer.
  • Experience owning a system where correctness has consequences outside the company, such as billing, payments, claims, ledgers, or regulated reporting.
  • Track record of working directly with non-engineering stakeholders to turn finance or operations problems into designs and explain tradeoffs.
  • Experience with a major cloud platform; Virta uses GCP.
  • Experience working with AI to accelerate development workflows and enhance the SDLC.
  • Frontend development experience with React and TypeScript.
  • Ability to follow security and privacy procedures for protected patient information.

Responsibilities

  • Lead projects end to end, translating ambiguous finance, RCM, or client-facing problems into designs and owning delivery through production.
  • Build and extend Go services supporting contract and pricing configuration, billable event generation, subscriptions and invoices, and claims submission.
  • Expand assertion and reconciliation frameworks to catch discrepancies across Salesforce, Zuora, and clinical data before they reach customer invoices.
  • Improve reconciliation and billing data used by health plan and employer partners.
  • Design self-service tools that let finance, RCM, and client operations configure contracts, correct data, and run bulk changes without engineering assistance.
  • Apply AI where it is useful to the work.
  • Contribute to design and code reviews and mentor engineers on the team.
  • Follow Virta’s security and privacy procedures when handling sensitive patient information.
