Senior Software Engineer - Client Lifecycle

Virta Health•Seattle, WA
•$161,500 - $232,500•Remote

About The Position

As a Senior Software Engineer on Virta Health’s Revenue & Contracts (ReCon) team, you will build and operate systems across the company’s quote-to-cash path. This includes configuring customer contracts and pricing, converting clinical events into billable episodes of care, managing subscriptions and invoices, submitting claims, and reconciling commercial, billing, and clinical data. The accuracy of these systems is customer-facing: health plans, PBMs, and large employers rely on the data both to pay Virta and to bill their own clients. You will lead projects from ambiguous stakeholder problems through design, review, delivery, and production ownership. You will build Go services and self-service tools, strengthen billing assertions and reconciliation, work directly with finance, revenue cycle management (RCM), and client-facing stakeholders, and contribute through code and design reviews and mentorship. Virta expects you to apply AI where useful and to follow security and privacy procedures when handling sensitive patient information governed by HIPAA. The role is remote-first, with office hubs in Denver and San Francisco.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years building and operating backend services in production, using Go or another statically typed language.
  • Experience with event-driven architectures and related failure modes, including eventual consistency, ordering, idempotency, and systems that disagree.
  • Strong SQL skills and comfort working across application code and the analytics layer.
  • Experience owning a system where correctness has consequences outside the company, such as billing, payments, claims, ledgers, or regulated reporting.
  • A track record of working directly with non-engineering stakeholders to translate finance or operations problems into designs and explain tradeoffs.
  • Experience with a major cloud platform; Virta uses GCP.
  • Experience working with AI to accelerate development workflows and enhance the software development lifecycle.
  • Experience in frontend development with React and TypeScript.
  • Ability to follow security and privacy procedures for sensitive patient information governed by HIPAA.

Responsibilities

  • Lead projects end to end, translating ambiguous problems from finance, RCM, or client-facing stakeholders into designs and owning delivery through production.
  • Build and extend Go services supporting contract and pricing configuration, billable event generation, subscription and invoice management, and claims submission.
  • Expand assertion and reconciliation frameworks to identify discrepancies across Salesforce, Zuora, and clinical data before they reach customer invoices.
  • Improve reconciliation and billing data used by health plan and employer partners.
  • Design self-service tools that let finance, RCM, and client operations configure contracts, correct data, and perform bulk changes without engineering support.
  • Apply AI where it is useful.
  • Conduct design and code reviews and mentor engineers on the team.
  • Follow Virta’s security and privacy procedures when handling sensitive patient information.
