Senior Software Engineer, Internal Platforms

Mosaic Pediatric Therapy•Charlotte, NC

About The Position

Mosaic Pediatric Therapy provides clinic-based and home-based ABA therapy for children with autism across North Carolina and Virginia. The company is growing its portfolio of internal software, including custom web applications, AI-assisted operational tools, agentic workflows, and integrations with an Azure-based Lakehouse. These systems support clinical operations, billing, credentialing, and analytics, and handle protected health information (PHI), where accuracy and compliance are essential. This is a senior, hands-on software engineering role responsible for designing, building, shipping, and maintaining internal applications and services, while establishing engineering standards. Approximately 70% of the work focuses on software development—including application architecture, end-to-end feature development, APIs and integrations, testing, code review, and production support—and approximately 30% covers data and platform work such as Azure Fabric Lakehouse pipelines, CI/CD, cloud infrastructure, and monitoring. Mosaic uses Azure, Fabric, SQL Server, and Microsoft 365, and values strong engineering fundamentals over any particular language or framework. The role works cross-functionally with the VP of Data Science, the Director of IT, and operational leaders. It also includes mentoring internal builders who use AI-assisted development tools, helping them create software that is safe, tested, and maintainable.

Requirements

  • At least 4 years of professional software development experience building and shipping production applications.
  • High proficiency in at least one modern programming language and ability to pick up others.
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals, including object-oriented or functional design, modular architecture, unit, integration, and end-to-end testing, debugging, and Git-based workflows.
  • Experience designing and building APIs, services, and web applications.
  • Track record of owning software end to end, from design through production support.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and production deployment workflows.
  • Experience building on a major cloud platform; Azure preferred, with AWS or GCP also considered.
  • Solid SQL and relational database design skills.
  • Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or similar.
  • Understanding of secure coding practices and handling sensitive or regulated data.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work directly with non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience mentoring other developers or leading code review.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the Microsoft ecosystem, including Azure, .NET, SQL Server, Microsoft Fabric, Entra ID, or Power Platform.
  • Experience building ETL/ELT pipelines or working in Lakehouse or data warehouse environments.
  • Infrastructure-as-code experience with Bicep, Terraform, or ARM.
  • Experience building applications on top of LLMs or agentic frameworks.
  • Experience in healthcare, ABA, EHR/EMR, claims, or other regulated environments.
  • Exposure to HIPAA, HITECH, HITRUST, SOC 2, or related compliance frameworks.

Responsibilities

  • Own internal software end to end, from requirements and architecture through implementation, deployment, and ongoing maintenance.
  • Build web applications, services, APIs, and integrations with third-party systems such as EHR, billing, and HR platforms.
  • Establish standards for source control, branching, code review, testing, modular design, documentation, and secure coding.
  • Lead by example through high-quality code and thoughtful pull request reviews.
  • Build and maintain applications and agentic workflows that use LLMs and AI services.
  • Help internal builders using Claude Code and similar tools turn prototypes into production-grade software.
  • Implement deployment pipelines, environment management, monitoring, alerting, and incident response across internal systems.
  • Debug production issues and conduct blameless post-incident reviews.
  • Build and maintain pipelines moving application data into and out of the Azure Fabric Lakehouse.
  • Contribute to cloud infrastructure, infrastructure-as-code, and data models supporting applications and reporting.
  • Work with clinical, billing, credentialing, and operations leaders to translate workflow problems into well-scoped software solutions.
