About The Position

Join Temporal’s Builder Platform Team to empower a company of builders with a frictionless, standardized, and governed platform for agents, workflows, and core engineering tools. The team operates Temporal as customer zero, partnering with teams across the company to run real work on the platform, measure productivity gains, and feed learnings back into Temporal products and open-source frameworks for customers.

Requirements

  • Strong software engineering fundamentals and experience shipping and operating production-quality internal platforms or developer tooling.
  • Experience leveraging modern agentic coding tools such as Codex and Claude Code.
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages commonly used at Temporal, such as Go, TypeScript/JavaScript, Python, or Java.
  • Experience building workflow automation or internal tools, such as CLI tools, services, GitHub automation, or cloud automation.
  • Strong judgment about when to standardize versus enable flexibility, and how to remove friction without compromising reliability.
  • Comfort working cross-functionally, including partnering with non-traditional developers and translating needs into usable solutions.
  • Ability to use data and qualitative feedback together to prioritize and measure impact.
  • Clear written communication, including documentation that enables self-service.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience building internal agents and operating an agent platform.
  • Experience building and operating Temporal applications.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and operate the Agent Platform for deploying, running, evaluating, governing, and improving agents and agentic workflows.
  • Establish and operate AI infrastructure for agents, including LLM and MCP gateways with guardrails, fallback, usage and cost controls, and model rollout policies.
  • Build and operate agents and workflows that carry engineering work from issue to production and business work from trigger to outcome, with humans governing the boundaries.
  • Own Developer Infrastructure, including source control and CI, and build developer tools that improve builder flow and reduce friction across the company.
  • Partner with Engineering, Product, Sales, and G&A teams to identify where AI could accelerate work or improve outcomes.
  • Drive adoption of agents and agentic tooling across the company, and own best practices and enablement materials that help builders use paved roads.
  • Build measurement and feedback loops for usage, reliability, and cost to quantify platform productivity and guide the roadmap.
  • Treat Temporal as customer zero by turning learnings into validated requirements for Temporal Cloud, the SDKs, and the Agent Harness, and contribute to an open-source reference architecture for customer platform teams.
  • Participate in on-call support for internal users.
