Senior Software Engineer, UI Tooling (Full Stack iOS)
About The Position
Airbnb’s UI Foundation team is responsible for the design system, accessibility, motion, and tooling that connect how Airbnb designs and builds products. The UI Tooling team develops platforms, integrations, and tools for designers, engineers, and product managers, including design and engineering workflow tooling, collaboration platforms, and AI-powered workflows. As a Senior Software Engineer on UI Tooling, you will help set the technical direction for AirChatUI, Airbnb’s AI prototyping harness and native macOS app. You will implement and scale systems that generate internal product feature prototypes, tools, and data visualizations. The role spans AirChatUI’s web experience, native iOS prototyping and prototype deployments, AI integrations for AirChat CLI and AirChat Remote, and integration with Kyber, Airbnb’s web-based prototyping and rapid-deployment platform. This US-remote-eligible position may involve occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed with your manager. You must reside in a state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity; eligible locations may change.
Requirements
- 5–9+ years of industry experience, ideally in fast-paced environments, with a record of shipping features in large-scale consumer applications.
- Full-stack engineering capability across backend, frontend, mobile, APIs, and system architecture as needed.
- Proficiency in Swift and modern iOS architecture, including declarative UI such as SwiftUI, unidirectional state management such as MVI, MVVM, or Redux-style patterns, and dependency injection.
- Experience building customer-facing products from zero to one, including product definition, technical architecture, development, and launch.
- Understanding of mobile app performance, accessibility, and release/CI practices for large-scale consumer apps.
- Product-first engineering mindset and understanding that technical decisions serve customer-facing products.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, including experience driving initiatives across teams, departments, and leadership.

- Experience with modern web development tooling, including TypeScript and React.
Responsibilities
- Set technical direction and make architectural decisions for AirChatUI and systems that enable rapid development of product prototypes, internal tools, and data visualizations.
- Design and build macOS and iOS features using modern declarative UI and unidirectional state architecture.
- Contribute to web-based prototyping functionality in Kyber to support AirChatUI features.
- Write and review code hands-on, including with AI coding agents, and demonstrate standards for quality, availability, and system health.
- Partner with Infrastructure, Product, Security, and Design to translate cross-organizational objectives into platform capabilities.
- Advance tools that enable Product Managers, Designers, and other non-technical builders to create rich prototypes that can translate into production application features.
- Collaborate with senior engineers and contribute to shared iOS patterns and best practices as the team scales.
- Drive implementation and scaling across web prototyping, iOS prototyping, AI integration, and integration with Kyber.
