Senior Software Engineer, Full Stack (FES)

Fanatics Inc.•New York, NY
•$121,600 - $200,000

About The Position

Fanatics is building a global digital sports platform across commerce, collectibles, and betting. The Fanatics Core team builds shared foundations—including identity, payments, loyalty, wallet, data, and platform capabilities—that power the company’s products and experiences. Fanatics ONE is the loyalty and identity program connecting these offerings. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will design, build, and operate platforms and services that connect fans to Fanatics products. You will own significant technical areas end to end, set technical direction for projects spanning services and teams, and strengthen engineering practices through mentorship, design leadership, and hands-on delivery. This is a hands-on full-stack role with a backend focus: most work involves building high-throughput, high-availability Go services, alongside meaningful contributions to the TypeScript/React front ends those services support.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience building and operating production systems.
  • Strong demonstrated proficiency in Go, including experience shipping production services and knowledge of concurrency, error handling, testing, profiling, and performance tuning.
  • Experience designing, building, and scaling backend services and REST and/or gRPC APIs in a distributed microservices environment.
  • Proficiency in JavaScript or TypeScript and experience with React or another modern front-end framework.
  • Solid grounding in relational and/or NoSQL databases, caching, and event streaming such as Kafka or SQS/SNS.
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure), containers, CI/CD, and infrastructure as code.
  • Strong operational skills in observability, monitoring, alerting, and debugging production issues under pressure.
  • Track record of leading projects with multiple contributors and delivering them on time without compromising quality.
  • Familiarity with Agile product delivery and SCRUM.
  • Ability to work effectively cross-functionally in an enterprise environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience building or integrating identity and access management systems, including authentication, authorization, SSO, and account lifecycle.
  • Hands-on familiarity with OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, SAML, JWT, MFA, and session and token lifecycle management.
  • Experience with identity providers or CIAM platforms such as Okta, Auth0, ForgeRock, AWS Cognito, or Ping, or building an in-house identity platform.
  • Experience with account security, fraud prevention, PII handling, or regulatory and compliance-driven engineering such as KYC, GDPR, or CCPA.
  • Experience designing systems for high-traffic consumer-facing products with spiky, event-driven load.
  • Experience with platform or shared-services work serving other engineering teams.
  • Experience in a start-up environment.
  • Experience in sports, commerce, media, or another consumer-scale domain.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, test, document, and operate production-grade software, primarily Go services and APIs.
  • Own technical designs for medium-to-large features and systems, evaluate trade-offs, document decisions, and drive implementation to completion.
  • Turn ambiguous problems into well-scoped, deliverable work for yourself and other engineers.
  • Lead and participate in design and architecture reviews, providing constructive feedback.
  • Set high standards in code reviews for correctness, readability, testability, and operational safety.
  • Mentor and develop engineers, onboard new hires, and serve as a technical point of contact for your systems.
  • Participate in and improve the on-call rotation by instrumenting services, responding to incidents, and leading blameless postmortems that produce fixes.
  • Improve reliability, performance, and cost; define and act on SLOs and operational excellence metrics.
  • Identify and reduce technical debt, and advocate for worthwhile investments.
  • Partner with product managers, designers, and stakeholders to shape the roadmap and make business-supporting technology decisions.
  • Help define engineering principles, guidelines, and best practices, and ensure the team follows them.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the industry, products, features, and roadmap to inform technical decisions.
