Senior Software Engineer, Product Foundations
About The Position
The Senior Software Engineer will work on Justworks’ Product Foundations team, which owns core platform capabilities used across the customer experience, including reporting and analytics, document management, training, calendars, communications, and organizational data access. The team serves administrators and employees and focuses on intuitive, reliable, scalable products that improve usability, enable self-service, and reduce customer friction. The role involves building products with broad platform impact while balancing the stability and performance of mission-critical functionality with opportunities for innovation. The team has also developed Justworks’ first AI-powered product experience. The engineer will own large projects from discovery through launch, contribute to high-volume and fault-tolerant infrastructure, improve existing systems, and promote engineering excellence through technical leadership, knowledge-sharing, and mentorship. The position is based in the New York City office; the posting is tagged hybrid.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional, hands-on experience.
- Mastery of modern server-side languages.
- Proficiency with SQL.
- Proficiency with cloud infrastructure management, preferably AWS.
- Experience supporting and mentoring other engineers and acting as a force multiplier.
- Experience working closely with designers and product managers.
Nice To Haves
- Golang experience is a plus.
- Experience with AWS is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Independently own large-scoped projects from initial discovery through launch, focusing on outcomes and customer impact.
- Collaborate with a cross-functional team to find solutions to customer challenges.
- Improve the performance, reliability, and scalability of existing systems.
- Promote engineering excellence through technical leadership, knowledge-sharing, and mentorship.
- Add capabilities to high-volume, fault-tolerant processing infrastructure.
- Enhance testing, monitoring, and continuous deployment infrastructure.
- Keep extremely sensitive data compartmentalized and secure.
- Support and mentor other engineers and act as a force multiplier.
- Work closely with designers and product managers.
