Senior Software Engineer- AI SDLC Platform

Fanatics Commerce•Boulder, CO
•$138,000 - $172,000•Remote

About The Position

The Senior Software Engineer joins a small team responsible for Fanatics Commerce’s software delivery platform. The platform combines an in-house framework that turns early program ideas into executable specifications and tickets with Go and Python services, Temporal workers, a knowledge pipeline, a retrieval layer, MCP servers, and a React application for tracking delivery and capacity. This is a hands-on role with ownership of features from design through production. The engineer uses coding agents in daily work and is accountable for the quality and outcomes of delivered software. The role supports dependable delivery lifecycles for Oracle integration, custom ERP development, and Product Lifecycle Management integration programs. It also provides engineering leaders with visibility into delivery and capacity across teams and work items, and helps expand platform adoption to additional programs. The position is fully remote, with the primary place of performance at the employee’s residence or another approved remote location.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience building and running production software, with deep expertise in at least one relevant area of the stack and willingness to work outside it.
  • Strong skills in Python or Go.
  • Relational database expertise, including schema design, migrations, and query performance.
  • Ability to design APIs and work with containers and CI/CD.
  • Experience shipping production code with LLM coding agents, including scoping tasks, providing context, critically reviewing output, and knowing when to write code directly.
  • Commitment to quality at speed, including shipping tests with every change and identifying and explaining errors in agent-generated code.
  • Experience operating software in production, including live triage and diagnosing slow endpoints or stuck jobs.
  • Hands-on experience with LLMs in real systems.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with program managers and program teams to understand needs, agree on scope, plan work, and set realistic timelines.
  • Review code, keep peers informed about work status, and support other engineers.
  • Document completed work and share it through demos and clear technical communication.
  • Deliver platform features that support dependable delivery lifecycles for Oracle integration, custom ERP development, and Product Lifecycle Management integration programs.
  • Develop the React tracking app to provide engineering leaders visibility into delivery and capacity across teams and work items.
  • Build platform capacity and features so additional programs can adopt it confidently.
  • Triage production issues quickly and identify root causes, including slow endpoints and stuck jobs.
  • Build and maintain a knowledge pipeline using Temporal workflows to ingest content from Zoom, SharePoint, Confluence, and Jira into a searchable knowledge base with chunking, embedding, and indexing.
  • Improve retrieval quality using curated evaluation datasets checked into CI.
  • Develop MCP servers that provide agents read-only access to program and knowledge data, propagate caller identity, check access, and audit tool calls.
  • Maintain the skill framework used by program teams to turn approved specifications into tickets and compliance artifacts.
  • Own features from design through rollout by breaking work into stories and producing component designs, specifications, API and schema contracts, and sequence diagrams.
  • Make decisions independently and involve teammates when their input is needed.
  • Use coding agents for production work, scope tasks agents can complete, provide context, and review generated code to the same standard as hand-written code.
  • Deliver on commitments and flag delays early.
  • Apply AI and technology to improve efficiency, quality, and outcomes; use data and digital tools to inform decisions; adopt new technologies and ways of working; and contribute to continuous improvement.
