Senior Software Engineer - AI Platform
About The Position
Hinge Health is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to contribute to the development and maintenance of key components of its AI infrastructure. The engineer will collaborate with engineers and data scientists to support the complex needs of AI models and machine learning workflows, including integrating models and agents into the platform and ensuring their smooth deployment. The team uses a continuous-deployment DevOps culture and expects engineers to take ownership of supporting their code in production. The production technology stack includes React Native, React, Node.js, TypeScript, Python, NestJS, GraphQL, Docker, AWS, Postgres, Redis, Apollo, and Redux. The team uses trunk-based CI/CD and maintains healthcare security and compliance standards including HIPAA, HITRUST, SOC 2, and CCPA. This is a hybrid role. Employees are required to work in the office three days per week for the full eight hours of a typical business day. The San Francisco office has a dog-friendly workplace program.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
- 5+ years of experience in software engineering.
- 3+ years of experience in backend development using Python, TypeScript, or Java.
- Experience developing RESTful APIs and services.
- Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Experience using Git for version control and collaborating in an agile environment.
Nice To Haves
- Advanced degree in an AI/ML-related field.
- Hands-on experience with AI/ML technologies such as LLMs, RAG, or agentic AI.
- Solid understanding of database systems and data processing technologies.
- Familiarity with Generative AI technologies.
- Experience building and managing infrastructure using IaC tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation across AWS and other cloud platforms.
- Experience driving CI/CD automation and observability through Datadog, Sentry, and related tools to improve deployment speed and system reliability.
- Experience in frontend development using React/TypeScript.
Responsibilities
- Work with the AI/ML team to integrate models and agents into the platform and ensure smooth deployment.
- Write clean, maintainable code emphasizing performance, reliability, and scalability.
- Build and maintain APIs and microservices that enable AI model and agent deployment and data processing.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to platform performance, integration, and reliability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand technical requirements and deliver effective solutions.
- Support improvements to AI platform systems and workflows, contributing ideas and feedback to architectural discussions.
- Support code in production as part of the team’s continuous-deployment DevOps culture.
