About The Position

As part of Apple's Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) team, the Senior Software Engineer will architect and engineer a telemetry and analytics platform that provides deep visibility across the software development lifecycle. The platform will help engineering teams quantify performance, identify bottlenecks through engineered observability, and continuously improve development workflows. The role focuses on building production-grade, data-intensive systems and a scalable SDLC event platform that underpins data pipelines. The engineer will develop data infrastructure and analytics capabilities that correlate telemetry from source control, build systems, deployment orchestration, artifact management, and observability tools into a unified view of engineering effectiveness. The position is intended for an experienced software architect or senior engineer with a strong background in data analytics and end-to-end data products.

Requirements

  • At least 4 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Strong software engineering foundation and significant experience building and operating production data systems.
  • Track record designing, shipping, and maintaining internal or external data-intensive products end-to-end.
  • Deep expertise in data modeling, including time-series and dimensional modeling.
  • Hands-on experience with event streaming platforms such as Kafka and pipeline orchestration frameworks such as Airflow or Spark.
  • Proficiency in Java and strong SQL skills for data modeling and pipeline development; comfort working across the data stack from ingestion to serving.
  • Solid understanding of database technologies for operational and analytical workloads.
  • BS in Computer Science or a related technical field.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience building analytics or telemetry platforms for software development workflows.
  • Hands-on familiarity with SDLC tools such as Git, build systems, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment orchestration.
  • Strong software design skills and ability to write clean, testable, maintainable code in a collaborative engineering environment.
  • Some experience using AI-powered solutions to analyze CI/CD data.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated and well-organized, with demonstrated ability to take ownership and drive ambiguous projects to completion.

Responsibilities

  • Architect data models for a scalable SDLC event platform that supports data pipelines.
  • Engineer scalable data infrastructure and analytics capabilities.
  • Build a unified analytics platform that correlates events across the software development pipeline.
  • Enable engineering teams to quantify performance, identify bottlenecks, and improve development workflows.
