Senior Software Engineer- AI SDLC Platform

Fanatics Commerce•Boulder, CO
•$138,000 - $172,000•Remote

About The Position

The Senior Software Engineer joins a small team that runs the software delivery platform behind major Fanatics Commerce programs, including Oracle integration, custom ERP development, and Product Lifecycle Management integration. The platform includes an in-house framework that turns early program ideas into specifications and tickets for engineers or coding agents, along with Go and Python services, Temporal workers, a knowledge pipeline, a retrieval layer, MCP servers, and a React application for tracking delivery and capacity. This is a hands-on role owning features from design through production and using coding agents in daily work. The engineer is accountable for shipped work and delivers business and fan impact through BOLD leadership and execution excellence, using data, automation, and AI-enabled insights. The role is fully remote, with the primary work location being the employee’s residence or another approved remote location.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years building and running production software, with deep expertise in at least one area of a comparable stack and willingness to work outside that area.
  • Strong skills in Python or Go.
  • Relational database expertise, including schema design, migrations, and query performance.
  • Comfort designing APIs and working with containers and CI/CD.
  • Experience shipping production code with LLM coding agents, including scoping tasks, supplying context, critically reviewing results, and determining when to write code directly.
  • Commitment to quality at speed, including shipping tests with every change and identifying and explaining errors in agent-generated work.
  • Experience running software in production, including live triage and diagnosing slow endpoints or stuck jobs.
  • Hands-on experience with LLMs in real systems.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with program managers and program teams to understand needs, agree on scope, plan work, and set realistic timelines.
  • Review code, keep peers current on work status, and help other engineers.
  • Document work and communicate it through demos and clear technical explanations.
  • Deliver platform features that support a dependable delivery lifecycle for Oracle integration, custom ERP development, and Product Lifecycle Management integration programs.
  • Provide engineering leaders with visibility into delivery and capacity across teams and work items through the React tracking application.
  • Build capacity and features that allow additional programs to adopt the platform confidently.
  • Triage production issues promptly and identify root causes, including slow endpoints and stuck jobs.
  • Build and maintain the knowledge pipeline using Temporal workflows to ingest content from Zoom, SharePoint, Confluence, and Jira into a searchable knowledge base with chunking, embedding, and indexing.
  • Improve retrieval quality using curated evaluation datasets checked into CI.
  • Develop MCP servers that provide agents read-only access to program and knowledge data, propagate caller identity, check access, and audit tool calls.
  • Maintain the skill framework used by program teams to turn approved specifications into tickets and compliance artifacts.
  • Own features from design through rollout by breaking work into stories, designing components, and writing specifications, API and schema contracts, and sequence diagrams.
  • Make decisions independently and involve teammates when their input is needed.
  • Use coding agents for production work, dividing features into tasks agents can complete and reviewing generated code to the same standard as hand-written code.
  • Deliver on commitments and flag delays early.
  • Apply AI and technology to improve efficiency, quality, and outcomes; use data and digital tools to inform decisions and enhance performance; adapt to new technologies and ways of working; and contribute to innovation and continuous improvement.
