•$119,800 - $234,700

About The Position

Join Microsoft’s Microsoft 365 Fleet Innovation team, which builds the platform that places infrastructure where and when Microsoft 365 workloads need it. The team operates across the capacity lifecycle, converting capacity demand into production-ready infrastructure for large cloud services. In this role, you will design and build systems that move capacity from demand signals to Live, working on distributed systems, infrastructure orchestration, and automation across the end-to-end lifecycle. The scope includes capacity and supply signal intake, Azure resource provisioning, infrastructure prerequisites, validation, allocation, deallocation, and live fleet operations. You will own meaningful areas of the architecture, collaborate across services and organizations, and apply automation, data, and AI to make capacity delivery and fleet operations faster, safer, and increasingly autonomous. Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. Employees bring a growth mindset, innovate to empower others, and collaborate toward shared goals. Microsoft emphasizes respect, integrity, accountability, and inclusion so everyone can thrive at work and beyond.

  • Experience applying AI, machine learning, or AI-assisted development technologies to improve automation, engineering productivity, or operational workflows.
  • Technical leadership and communication skills, including experience driving design and execution across multiple engineering teams.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and deliver scalable software and services that automate M365 capacity delivery from supply chain and capacity signals through provisioning, validation, and decommissioning.
  • Develop automation and intelligent workflows that simplify complex infrastructure processes, reduce manual operations, and improve the speed and reliability of capacity delivery.
  • Explore and apply AI and other emerging technologies to improve engineering efficiency, operational decision making, troubleshooting, and automation.
  • Drive technical design for complex feature areas, balancing scalability, reliability, resiliency, security, performance, and long-term maintainability.
  • Partner with engineers and stakeholders across organizational boundaries to understand requirements, manage dependencies, create technical clarity, and drive solutions.
  • Use telemetry and production data to understand system behavior, identify bottlenecks and failure patterns, and improve service health and operational efficiency.
  • Promote engineering excellence through design and code reviews, automated testing, monitoring, controlled deployments, and operational readiness.
