Senior Software Engineer, Core Technology
About The Position
IXL Learning is seeking Senior Software Engineers with a passion for technology and education to add features to its educational products and build new products. This full-time role is based in the IXL headquarters office in San Mateo, California, and requires working from the office. The engineer will work on both new projects and existing codebases, building back-end systems, application logic, and user interfaces while guiding the development process through design, implementation, documentation, testing, debugging, and tuning. The role also involves estimating work, evaluating feasibility and technologies, and collaborating across development teams.
Requirements
- At least 6 years of experience in full-stack software engineering.
- Bachelor's or advanced degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
- Excellent programming skills in Java or another object-oriented language.
- Strong communication skills.
- Strong analytical reasoning and problem-solving skills.
- Passion for improving education through technology.
Responsibilities
- Work with a team of engineers on projects from scratch and within existing codebases.
- Build back-end wiring, application logic, and user interfaces for products.
- Drive the team's development process, including design, coding, documenting, testing, debugging, and tuning.
- Provide accurate estimates, evaluate feasibility, and assess platforms and technologies for project implementations.
- Collaborate and communicate across multiple development teams to design and release products.
