About The Position

Procore Technologies is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to build the next generation of AI-powered experiences for the construction industry. On the Procore AI Experience team, this engineer will partner with Product, Design, and Engineering to design, develop, and deliver intelligent software across product-led growth, platform integrations, and construction-specific workflows. The role calls for strong software engineering fundamentals, experience with AI application architectures such as LLMs, RAG, and agentic workflows, and knowledge of distributed systems. The position is based in Procore’s Austin, Texas office and reports to the Engineering Manager, Procore AI Experience. The engineer will build and operate production-quality AI applications and platform services, incorporate AI technologies into scalable and secure cloud architectures, and take end-to-end ownership of engineering outcomes. The role also involves advancing AI-assisted development practices, establishing reusable engineering patterns, and improving systems using operational data, evaluation frameworks, and customer feedback.

Requirements

Significant professional experience designing, building, and maintaining production-grade distributed software systems in a modern cloud environment.
Hands-on experience integrating modern AI technologies into production software, such as LLM APIs, function or tool calling, RAG pipelines, or orchestration frameworks.
Proficiency with AI-assisted developer tools and an active approach to using agentic engineering workflows in daily practice.
Strong foundational knowledge of system design, API construction, data modeling, automated testing, and debugging.
Ability to work independently through ambiguity, make architectural tradeoffs balancing reliability, cost, latency, and simplicity, and clearly communicate technical rationale.
Experience building or contributing to developer platforms, shared engineering infrastructure, or product-led growth SaaS features.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related STEM discipline, or equivalent practical work experience.

Full-stack or backend software engineering experience shipping production LLM or AI applications.
AI platform engineering or developer productivity experience specializing in agent harness design and coding automation.
Distributed systems engineering experience transitioning into applied AI infrastructure and evaluation systems.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, and operate production-quality AI-powered applications and platform services that deliver measurable value in customer-facing workflows.
Integrate LLMs, AI agents, contextual knowledge systems, and RAG into reliable, scalable, and secure cloud software architectures.
Collaborate with Product, Design, and Engineering partners to turn ambiguous customer challenges into maintainable software solutions.
Advance AI-assisted software development by experimenting with, building, and refining developer agent harnesses, testing automation, and workflow tools.
Own engineering outcomes end to end, including architectural design, code reviews, observability, latency, and ongoing performance tuning.
Establish reusable engineering patterns, abstractions, and best practices to improve code quality and help colleagues work effectively with AI agents.
Monitor live application performance and use operational data, evaluation frameworks, and customer feedback to improve systems iteratively.
