Senior Software Engineer, Product

RevenueCat
$230,000 - $230,000Remote

About The Position

RevenueCat is seeking a Product-oriented Fullstack Engineer to design, build, ship, and own end-to-end product features. This is a hands-on individual contributor role for someone deeply technical and product-focused, who can work across frontend, backend, and data boundaries. The engineer will make thoughtful tradeoffs to deliver reliable, high-quality systems and take ownership from problem definition through production rollout and long-term maintenance. "Product-focused" at RevenueCat means combining strong engineering fundamentals with good judgment, customer obsession, and a bias toward shipping without compromising correctness, reliability, or scalability.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Strong backend foundation.
  • Track record of building and operating high-scale production systems.
  • Ability to write advanced SQL statements beyond basic SELECT and UPDATE statements.
  • Proficiency in React and genuine experience building on the frontend.
  • Comfortable owning UI work, not just backend APIs.
  • Solid HTML, CSS, and JavaScript fundamentals.
  • Understanding of HTTP and browser–server interactions.
  • Hold a high bar for quality and instinctively know which details matter.
  • Discerning enough to cut scope when needed while still delivering value.
  • Customer-obsessed: imagine yourself as the developer, product manager, or marketer using the feature or experiencing the issue.
  • A builder, not an implementer: scoping, prioritizing, and driving rollout in partnership with the Product team.
  • Ability to quickly familiarize yourself with code you didn't write yourself and improve it.
  • Scrappy and biased toward shipping.
  • Communicate clearly, both in real-time and asynchronously.
  • Experience shipping meaningful user-facing features to production, monitoring their usage and adoption, and improving them over time.
  • Write high-quality, well-tested code.
  • Debug issues methodically.
  • Act like a founder: notice problems, propose improvements, and follow through fast.
  • Proficiency in TypeScript.
  • Proficiency in React.
  • Proficiency in PostgreSQL.
  • Proficiency in Python.
  • Proficiency in Flask.
  • Experience with AWS-hosted systems, following best practices for deployment, monitoring, and reliability.
  • Strength in both frontend fundamentals and SQL, data logic, and algorithmic programming (assessed via live-coding sessions).

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, ship, and own end-to-end product features.
  • Work across frontend, backend, and data boundaries.
  • Make thoughtful tradeoffs to deliver reliable, high-quality systems.
  • Take ownership from problem definition through production rollout and long-term maintenance.
  • Participate in scoping and prioritization work.
  • Ship a good version today and iterate rather than waiting for a perfect one.
  • Write high-quality, well-tested code.
  • Debug issues methodically.
  • Help raise the engineering bar through thoughtful feedback and mentorship.
  • Notice problems, propose improvements, and follow through fast.
  • Ship meaningful user-facing features to production, monitor their usage and adoption, and improve them over time.
  • Complete a First Ship project within the first month.
  • Ship a medium-sized project successfully within the first 3 months.
  • Scope and work on projects self-sufficiently, from idea to post-launch improvements.
  • Actively participate in code reviews, bug bashes, and technical discussions.
  • Continuously improve areas of your team’s codebase and product.
  • Become the go-to engineer for certain focus areas within 6 months.
  • Proactively contribute to architecture discussions that impact more than just your team.
  • Debug issues across frontend, backend, and data; communicate clearly during incidents; drive fixes that prevent repeats.
  • Engage directly with customers to understand how your work actually lands.
  • Mentor other engineers joining the team and raise the bar through feedback and guidance.
  • Know all the major components of our system and be able to debug complex issues across it within 12 months.
  • Spec and architect large projects, gather feedback, and drive design validation and rollout plans.
  • Lead your own initiatives for improving our product and systems, grounded in real customer and business priorities.
