About The Position

This role is for a Senior Software Engineer focused on the Marketing website (Close.com). The company has recently migrated from Webflow to its own codebase (Astro, Sanity, Vercel), and this engineer will be the technical owner responsible for maintaining, optimizing, and instrumenting the website. The goal is to make the website a competitive advantage by ensuring it is best-in-class, responsive, highly interactive, and polished. The engineer will work closely with the Marketing team, including a Marketing Designer, but will report to Engineering. The position requires a strong understanding of marketing website development, conversion optimization, performance, technical SEO, and data measurement. The engineer will also be responsible for managing the infrastructure behind the site, building tools for marketing self-service, and acting as an engineering resource for marketing initiatives.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience building beautiful, conversion-focused websites.
  • Experience building, owning, and collaborating on websites long-term, seeing work through impact and iterations.
  • Proficiency in motion, ambitious CSS, and rich media.
  • Strong focus on page speed and understanding of how the site reads to search engines and AI agents.
  • Familiarity with modern stacks like Astro paired with a headless CMS (Sanity is their CMS).
  • Fluent in measurement, understanding cookies, conversion events, analytics, and experimentation tooling.
  • Experience with tools like Segment, Amplitude, or Customer.io.
  • Focus on conversion and impact, motivated by direct effect on business metrics like traffic, conversion, and revenue.
  • Experience building systems that allow non-technical team members (Marketers, Designers) to self-serve.
  • Comfortable thinking through guardrails, automations, and tooling for non-technical users.
  • Experience using AI to move faster and empower teams, while discerning when craftsmanship is needed.
  • Resourceful and collaborative, able to work easily with folks across departments and levels.
  • Ability to bridge two teams (Marketing and Engineering).

Responsibilities

  • Build and continuously improve a world-class marketing website that is responsive, highly interactive, and polished, bringing the product to life through animation and interactivity.
  • Ship new pages and raise the bar on core site functionality.
  • Own performance, technical SEO, and how the site appears to search engines and AI agents.
  • Manage the infrastructure behind the site, including the platform (Sanity), components, integrations, and deployment.
  • Own the technical integrity of site measurement, ensuring tracking, attribution, conversion events, and funnel data are implemented correctly and flow reliably into marketing and data systems.
  • Partner on experiments to improve site performance and user experience.
  • Build automations and flows to help the marketing team ship pages, campaigns, and experiments.
  • Help the website be a partner in its own development by catching regressions or flagging performance problems and SEO issues.
  • Act as an engineering resource for marketing, solving tricky problems across the website and in other marketing areas.
  • Collaborate with folks across departments and levels, tackling any task regardless of size.
